The Wild West

In this week's The Wild West, we'll look at the heroes and zeroes from each team in round one. Brennan Des had a look at the Eastern Conference last week so we’re going to look at the West this week. Enjoy the rest of the second round! Colorado Avalanche Hero: Mikko Rantanen I’m not sure [...]

As I did last season, I plan to focus on each team in the West and look at their current roster, prospects, cap space, draft picks and impending free agents. I intend to dig deeper into the organization to see if the team is on the rise, fall or treading water heading into 2023-2024. We [...]

This week we’re going to look at each team in the Western Conference and name an MVP and an MDP (most disappointing player). I’m going to exclude players who were out with an injury for more than three-quarters of the season, but focus more on players who just didn’t perform up to expectations. Anaheim Ducks [...]

At the beginning of the season I chose my top-10 rookies in the Western Conference in an article here. I always like to review my pre-season lists and see how I did. There were a few misses and a few hits, which we will look at below but the Western Conference represented well this season [...]

With some prospects being signed out of college or junior leagues and getting some games down the stretch, I thought we could look at some players from each roster who could make the jump to the NHL next season. In addition, I’ve included some players who have seen an increased role as the season nears [...]

Last season around this time I ranked team defenses in the West based on my player game ratings. I created a google sheet, where I entered all of the player game ratings into a depth chart for each NHL team. I updated the sheet about once a month during the season, to account for trades, [...]

Members of the 100/100 Club need to have both 100 Hits and 100 BLKS in a season. It’s more unique than I would have guessed before looking at it in detail. There are players who are very physical but don’t block many shots, while there are players like Alec Martinez who lead the league in [...]

It is never too early to start considering your fantasy teams for next season, especially for those in keeper pools. This week, I’m going to go through each of the Western Conference teams and highlight the players who I think can surpass what they have done so far in their short NHL careers.  Most NHL [...]

We are going to check in with each team in the West and see how the new trade addition(s) to their roster are doing. Anaheim Ducks Brock McGinn was the only roster player who Anaheim added to their team. He has two more years remaining after this one at $2.75 million AAV. After putting up [...]

This week I’m going to review every team in the Western Conference and grade how they did either buying or selling leading up to and on trade deadline day. Anaheim Ducks - Seller In: 2024 - 3rd round pick - San Jose 2024 - 3rd round pick - Pittsburgh 2025 - 4th round pick - [...]
