The Wild West

I don’t typically write about just one player each week, but I thought I would expand on something I had dabbled with a few months back on my own and look into the progression of Elias Pettersson of the Vancouver Canucks on a much deeper level. Pettersson had an excellent rookie season in 2018-19 with [...]

Dobber’s Frozen Tools has a new feature available to Patreon members that gives the ability to look at every team’s last three games and see what the lines were at even strength, on the power play and shorthanded for that period. I realize I don’t write the Frozen Tools column any longer but I still [...]

This week we are going to go through each team in the Western Conference and see which player on each roster has the most value per their contract and which player has the least. Some of the factors I've taken into account are the salary cap hit, length of contract (good or bad), age, current [...]

With the All-Star break just concluded, we will look at some players with notable production (both good and bad) from the start of this calendar year up until the break. We will look at ice time, faceoffs, hits, blocked shots, power-play time and any other interesting takeaways. Anaheim Trevor Zegras is starting to catch fire, [...]

We last looked at points per 60 minutes in a mid-November article, so this week we’re going to look at where players are at now on a team-by-team basis. I've tried to include some numbers from the 2021-22 season as well for comparative purposes. Johnny Gaudreau led the NHL last season with 4.5/60 followed by [...]

The trade deadline is March 3rd, so we still have about five weeks left for some or most of the players on our list to be dealt. I’m going to list the players who I believe will bring back the highest returns. This season has the makings for some pretty big trades as quite a [...]

I ranked the Western teams in two Wild West articles back in late August of 2022 a few months before the start of this season. We are going to look at the teams at the mid-season point and re-rank them and see where we went right and where we went wrong. The Lottery Teams #16 [...]

As we approach the mid-season, we are going to have a look at the player on each team who I believe has stood out from the rest of their team and should be the MVP to this point. AVAILABLE FRIDAY - The DobberHockey Midseason Fantasy Guide! Pre-order it here Anaheim - Troy Terry Terry leads [...]

I have a daily routine where I run the Report Generator 3.0 on Dobber’s Frozen Tools and download it into an Excel spreadsheet for both the nightly games and the season to date (It is only available via Patreon but well worth the $5/month). Once I download the files, I sort the spreadsheet, run my [...]

I wanted to look back at the rookies I had profiled at the beginning of the season. Upon reflection, two of my players haven’t played a game in the NHL this year and five others have been up and down from the minors. Here were my picks from my early October article. I started off [...]
