Dobber Sports is looking to expand its staff with positions open for the postings below. Please note that these are all entry level positions designed to bring experience and exposure, as well as fulfill a sports’ fanatic’s dream of having his/her opinions out there for all to see. While some of these positions are paid work, not all positions are.

However the best of the best certainly use this experience and the exposure to thousands of readers to take another step forward in their career. We have had paid and unpaid freelancers and management join the likes of The Score, Sportsnet, WHL Scouting, International Scouting Services, the Carolina Hurricanes and many other multi-national companies after their time with Dobber Sports.

Most of our paid manager, editor, associate editor, marketing, customer service and senior scouting staff began with Dobber Sports in an unpaid voluntary position.

The following positions are currently open:

May 21 2025 – Reporter/Scout – DobberProspects Player Profiles

We are accepting applications to join the DobberProspects team. This is an entry-level position that will be probationary to begin. The position involves the following:

  • Select a prospect profile to complete from our list of profiles yet to be done. This will encompass all NHL organizations. If you have specific team you prefer to cover, you would be free to select only those prospects if available. First come, first served.
  • Select a prospect profile to update. This will encompass all NHL organizations. If you have a specific team you prefer to cover, you would be free to select those prospects, but it is on a first come, first served basis.
  • Profile updates will require you to note any events of note – an injury, a trade, a hot streak, a cold slump, a fantasy value boost in general. Check footage.
  • You will have access to our live games account on AHL.com, OHL.com, WHL.com, QMJHL and may consult our account on SportContract as needed. Also check clips on YouTube, as required.
  • Profile updates require a review of fantasy upside and certainty. Also review/update any YouTube clips, and height/weight changes, as well as league status (NHL or junior or minors or Europe).
  • New profiles require that you fill out the template we provide you.
  • Submit your articles to the editor email for posting.
  • Consistent and reliable contributions for a full year will put you on the short list for an editor's role. You will also have access to post your own articles.
  • You will have access to our live games account on AHL.com, OHL.com, WHL.com, QMJHL and may consult our account on SportContract as needed.

The most reliable and dedicated reporter/scouts get moved up to paid positions as they become available. All of the managing editors and associate editors for DobberProspects got their start this way. They began on a probationary basis, demonstrated reliability, enthusiasm and skill, and quickly moved up. These positions are voluntary (unpaid) and require passion and dedication. Members of our editing staff, that do get paid, all got their start here.

Standby List (first call when spot opens up). Applicants will be kept on file and reached out to whenever spots open up.
