My how time flies. Another decade coming to a close and a few more white hairs in my beard.  It seems like just yesterday that world was gearing up for the 2010 Olympic Games in Vancouver. Barack Obama was nearing the halfway mark of his first term. Dwayne Johnson was portraying a minor hockey player turned tooth fairy in, well, Tooth Fairy.

Hell, the Atlanta Thrashers were still around! 

As we say goodbye to this decade and welcome in the next, let’s take a trip down memory lane and rank up the top fantasy wingers over the period. Spoiler alert: There have been a few good ones.

10. Corey Perry

It’s easy to forget just how dominant Perry was in his heyday. 268 goals and 551 points in 691 contests. A 50-goal campaign. A Hart trophy. And all sorts of Hits, PIM and shots. 

9. Taylor Hall

The newest Coyote has a Hart Trophy under his best and his 0.91 points-per-game over 500+ games this decade is the eighth-most. He has but five playoff games under his belt, but we don’t fuss about that. 

8. Daniel Sedin

His skates may be hung up now, but Danny was all-world during this past decade. His 0.87 points per game over 641 games during the 10-year stretch is firmly within the Top 10. His MVP season and his incredible health made him a dream to roll out each week. 

7. Nikita Kucherov

He’s played just 480 games this decade, but most of them have been all-world. 200 goals, 500 points, an Art Ross and Hart trophies. He also owns the highest-scoring season (128) since 1995-96. 

6. Jamie Benn

While the production is slowing considerably now, Benn sits fifth for winger scoring this decade and 280 goals sit fourth. He’s chipped in with more than a few hits, shots, and penalty minutes. Not bad for a walk-on in the WHL and a former fifth-round selection. 

5. Blake Wheeler

Big players take longer to develop. Blake Wheeler is the perfect example of that. His 436 assists trail only Kane. His 659 points sit fourth in the winger category. He’s missed just seven games in the last nine seasons. Producing back-to-back 91 point campaigns in his 30s is a testament to his longevity. 

4. Brad Marchand

It hasn’t been the most traditional evolution, but Marchand has become a truly elite producer after years of being a terror in the periphery categories. His 26 shorthanded goals and 41 shorthanded points lead all skaters this decade. Finishing the period off with 320 points in his last 261 games sure hasn’t hurt his bid either. 

3. Phil Kessel

Nice guy. Tries hard. In the winger category, Phil sits second in power-play points, third in goals, and third in total points this decade. Another player with remarkable durability and all sorts of impressive shot totals.

2. Patrick Kane

Kane gave The Great 8 a run for his money but he’ll settle for second. The 2007 first-overall pick leads all wingers in assists with 483 and points with 794 – the most by any player this decade. Kane won many teams a fantasy championship with his two 105+ point campaigns (and he’s on pace to push for triple digits once again this season. He missed just 44 games in the 10-year span. So consistent. 

1. Alex Ovechkin

A nice layup to begin. Ovechkin leads all players in goals this decade with 436. His 773 points trail only Patrick Kane, but Ovi makes up for it with ALL of the shots on net. We’re talking nearly 1000 more than the next closest competitor. He’s never injured and only had one ‘down’ season. Ovi is king.
