Fantasy Impact: In a one-for-one deal, the Montreal Canadiens sent Alex Galchenyuk to the Arizona Coyotes for Max Domi.

The Coyotes get: A goal-scoring forward who was drafted as a centre but has struggled to thrive in that position at the NHL-level. Galchenyuk is two years removed from a 30-goal, 56-point campaign. He played at a 60-point pace in 2016-17 before seeing his shooting percentage plummet on a lottery finishing Habs' squad this past season. His appearances in the coach’s doghouse have been front and centre in a rabid Montreal market. Galchenyuk sat 97th on Dobber’s Top 300 Keeper League Forwards’ list. It appears as though the former third overall selection from 2012 will have an opportunity to play the middle of the ice in the desert as well. Regardless, he’ll be joining a youthful and skilled lineup in Arizona.

The Canadiens get: A player who has struggled to take steps forward in his development. Max Domi burst onto the scene with 18 goals and 52 points as a rookie in 2015-16. However, in the two years since, he’s scored 18 goals in 141 contests on a seven percent conversion rate. Domi is a physical player who can chip in at a 50-point pace, offer some penalty minutes, two shots-per-game and a reasonable amount of hits. He ranked 99th on Dobber's Top 300 Keeper League Forwards' list.

Fantasy Players Impacted: Dylan Strome appeared set to take over the Coyotes’ second line centre position full-time next season. If the club plans on giving Galchenyuk a serious look down the middle, that clouds things even further for the former third overall pick. Christian Dvorak's position as the team's middle six pivot comes into question as well.

Brendan Perlini will see his stock rise as the top left-winger in the organization. The power forward scored 17-goals and 30 points in 74 contests. A promotion to the top power-play unit could be in the cards.

There's another young power forward who may see his position elevated. Lawson Crouse should have a strong chance of suiting up in the team’s top nine next season. The left-winger has a future as a category filler.

In Montreal, it’s difficult to know who is impacted as there appear to be more moves coming. At the moment, Domi slides in as the team’s second-best left-wing behind Max Pacioretty. It’s reasonable to expect him to receive similar deployment in Montreal as he did in Arizona.

Fantasy Players this helps, in order:

  1. Brendan Perlini
  2. Lawson Crouse

Fantasy Players this hurts, in order:

  1. Dylan Strome
  2. Christian Dvorak
