Here are the Top 200 prospect forwards to own in your points-only keeper league – December edition!

Some of you may have caught it on Twitter, but I had lost my prospects template. The template I had been working off for the better part of 13 years. Best guess is that it was deleted after an Office 19 update, where they have a list of saved files and I clicked “I have the ones I need”. Combined with my annual Recycle Bin dump, and we’re in a bit of trouble. I had several stopgap measures for my key files, and I have a program to recover lost files like this, but the recovery was corrupted and the stopgap measures…well, let’s just say I had grown lax on making sure everything was okay.

Long story short, I did have other files saved from the Prospects Report, as well as monthly Top 200s saved. But I lost a) the formula, b) all the prospects that I had added since the Prospects Report came out in June that were not in last month’s Top 200, c) any updates to that full list of prospects from June, such as changing teams (if they’re traded, or not re-signed), graduated players, etc.

I spent the last 12 days putting all the prospects back in, making sure I got all the relevant ones, fixing teams, adjusting prospects based on news of the past few months, etc. Then I worked on a formula that, I feel, is even better. I think it captures upside and certainty really well, yet at the same time also acknowledges prospects who are in the league helping out right now (even though they may have lower upside). I could still use your help – by letting me know in the comments section any players I missed fixing their teams, or any ‘key’ prospects you think should be in the Top 200 who aren’t. If they’re from this year’s draft or a newer signing, I may have missed him. You’ll also notice that some of the “Nov” and “Oct” cells do not have a value – again, this is because I lost them.

Note: At this point, “missing Jenik” has been pointed out to me several times here and on Twitter and addressed. Next month’s update is around January 10 and he will appear then. Could use help on any others I may have missed though…

As always, players within +/- 5.0 ranking points of each other should be considered equal and that point become a matter of team need (need help now/will take less upside vs. can wait/will roll the dice for higher upside) or personal bias.
