In the Capitals’ 5-1 win over Minnesota, Alex Ovechkin scored his first goal of the season, which is the 898th of his storied career. Ovechkin also added an assist with a plus-3 and three shots. Now 40 years old, the Great 8 is on track to become the first player in NHL history to score [...]
It was a quiet night in the NHL on Sunday with just one game on slate, with the Rangers hosting the Capitals, however it turned out to be a big one for any fantasy manager who took a late-week swing on Charlie Lindgren. In his season debut, he stopped all 35 shots for the shutout, [...]
After going dark on Friday night, the NHL was back with every team in action on the first Saturday night of the season. I didn’t have room for something from all 16 games in here, but I’ll share what stood out to me fantasy-wise. - Mark Scheifele is off to a fast start. The Jets’ [...]
I don’t like to assume what happens one or two games into the season will be telling about what will take place over an entire season. Observations are more of what I’m aiming for at this point. A lot can change between now and the end of the season, so it’s easy to become hyper [...]

McTavish will finally report to the Ducks’ camp and shouldn’t miss any games, although he may need more time than normal to get up to speed. Anaheim has three more preseason [...]
Friday’s news on Aleksander Barkov confirmed the worst, as the Panthers captain underwent surgery on both the ACL and MCL on his right knee. The Panthers have stated a recovery timeline of 7 to 9 months is normal for this type of injury, which means that Barkov would miss the entire regular season. A best-case [...]
It is the players who build quiet momentum and carve out bigger roles as coaches start leaning on them more that can move the needle on your fantasy roster. Those types of players who can sneak onto your roster and provide meaningful late-season value, even if they do not jump off the scoresheet at first [...]
The first preseason game of the season was played on Saturday evening, with the Stars edging out the Blues in a 2-1 shootout final. Since I know you’ve missed hockey, here are some highlights: Jordan Binnington already appeared to be in midseason form with this save: https://twitter.com/StLouisBlues/status/1969544939403931941 Justin Carbonneau scored the first goal of the [...]
