The Top 100 goalies to own in a fantasy hockey keeper league…

This month I posted the Top 50 here, and you can find the rest over at GoaliePost.com. Factoring in the depth chart, security as a starter, track record, injury history as well as current- and next year's outlook for putting up numbers. Goalies within the same 'tier' should be considered equal in value. However, I left the ratings in there if you really like to split hairs (I don't).

Why is Hellebuyck tier 1 when Bob and Murray are tier 2?

    • Dobber 2016-12-20 at 19:35

Bob is an oversight. Should be 1. Murray will be 1 when fleury moves on

May I ask: If Bishop is out long term how would that affect Vasilevskiy’s placement in these rankings?

    • Dobber 2016-12-21 at 13:38

Vas will go up just as soon as he can help leagues this season – because his future is bright, so it’s only the ‘now’ that holds him down.

Dubnyk leading most Goalie stats and still not top 3. Yet we find Jones and Talbot ahead of him !? Is this Yahoo inspired ?

    • Dobber 2016-12-21 at 13:37

This is a keeper league, right? Would you bet $1000 that he’ll be Top 3 next year? Year after? If I had $1000 for a bet like this, Dubnyk would rank 8th on the list of goalies I’d put it on.

That being said, Dubnyk is Tier 1 and as I made clear up top – all Tier 1 goalies are equal.

Dubnyk…its a safe bet to say that Dubnyk on Minnesota deserves to be top 5 regardless of 3 years from now. Next year there is no reason to want to own Jones on an aging Sharks team ahead of Dubnyk in MY opinion.

W, S%, GAA, SO – yahoo keeper league, keep 1 goalie. By this list – you would recommend Helle boy over Bishop based on tiers but not in ranking? I am leaning toward the young keeper just based on age and injury proneness for Bish, but if you could confirm that would be great. Also, what to make of all the “Winnipeg is looking at goal tending options” noise. Why would they? Play the kid.

    • Dobber 2016-12-21 at 17:48

That is correct. And I could be wrong, but I am completely convinced that the Jets won’t get a goalie. They love Hellebuyck and will build the team around him

  5. Dave 2016-12-21 at 22:43

Finally Price where he should be!

Dobber, I’m stuck…I’ve got two studs in goal (Holtby/Dubnyk) in my keeper pool. Next year my earliest draft pick is #6 (1,2,3 taken by players I’m keeping; 4,5 traded away). I’ve been offered Andersen and a 4 for Dubnyk. I know Dubnyk is far better this year but in the long term it helps my team…that 4 pick will land me a solid player next year, and are Andersen and the Leafs for real? In other words, this time next year, or the year after, this could look like a bargain. Thoughts? Or is Dubnyk a top 5 G for the next 3,4 years?

    • jerrodedson99 2017-01-21 at 12:11

The other thing, Dubnyk takes a #3 pick every year I keep him. Andersen takes an 11. (Where they were drafted.) So if I traded Dubnyk I’d have a #3 pick open every year.

      • jerrodedson99 2017-01-21 at 12:25

Or am I crazy to be having such high optimism for Andersen?

        • Dobber 2017-01-21 at 13:03

I think that’s a pretty good deal. Andersen will only get better. Dubnyk helps you right now so maybe delay it as late as possible

          • jerrodedson99 2017-01-22 at 12:16

News is out that I might move Dubnyk and I’ve just been offered Talbot. Is Talbot for real? It’s hard to judge the Oilers as, admittedly, I’m still biased, thinking any goalie in Edmonton is in trouble. But Talbot has good numbers…will it continue?

          • jerrodedson99 2017-01-22 at 12:32

After the Taylor Hall / Adam Larsson deal I remember reading how Corey Schneider said Larsson was unreplaceable.Schneider’s struggles this year can’t be a coincidence. And now Talbot has Larsson…
