For those of you that have not yet read Friday's announcement, it is in the forum in the "announcements" thread. Also…some hilarious trash talk between Burnsy and Notch. At it again, those two…

New York is disagreeing with TSN in that the Rangers actually have $9 million in cap space. TSN's Bob McKenzie said it was $12-$13. This means that the Rangers may actually have an arbitrator decide on Lundqvist's contract, using Cam Ward ($2.5 million or thereabouts) as a comparable. To keep him long-term would mean a lot more. They could get him on the cheap and worry about long-term stuff on January 1. This would then leave the other $6.5 million (or so) for Shanahan, Avery, and Hossa. The Post is also speculating that the Rangers could deal Paul Mara and free up $3 million that way.

Detroit is reportedly interested in signing Eric Lindros.

TSN is reporting that Kyle Turris is having a strong prospects camp. He will play for the University of Wisconsin next season, but coming to Phoenix after that is a possibility. The Coyotes will be a young team – and uncompetitive – for the next two seasons at the very least, before you can start seeing some decent win totals.

Free agent frenzy is over and now GM's are maxing and relaxing at the cottage. I know I would be. Anyway, this means the movements will be as slow as this every weekend throughout July and well into August. I'll have an article up later today, with my fantasy take on some of the signings.
