As Jason Banks pointed out in our forum, Adam Munro had already signed with Chicago in the NHL, so Syracuse just signed for his AHL rights. If he goes to the NHL, it will be after an injury to Khabibulin or Lalime.

The Sens have avoided arbitration with Ray Emery by signing him to a three-year deal worth $9.5 million.

The Flyers have signed winger Claude Giroux to an entry-level deal. He will likely not make the squad this year, but watch him for next season.

The Flyers also added Brian Boucher to their goaltending mix. He will play in the AHL, but will be the first recall upon an injury to either Biron or Niitymaki.

DJ King signed a three-year contract for just above the NHL minimum, indicating that he could stay with the big club for the season this time. If so, 100 PIMs is feasible.

The Wild's development camp opens today and all eyes will be on James Sheppard. GM Risebrough has indicated that he will give Sheppard every opportunity to crack the lineup this year. Sheppard is ranked 41 on that list, but he is lower than he should be because I felt he was a good three years away. Naturally, cracking the lineup would boost him up quite a bit.

The Wild re-signed Nick Schultz to a one-year deal, avoiding arbitration.

Adam Munro, a former Blackhawks prospect goaltender who played last season in the Swiss League, has signed with Syracuse of the AHL, which is Columbus' affiliate. Given LeClaire's injury history and Noreena's instability between the pipes, he may sneak in a start or two this season.

Chris Stewart had an impressive prospect camp and as a natural winger he may beat out TJ Hensick for that final roster spot. His value is in PIM's only. He is ranked 182 on my prospects list and he'll stay there regardless because he won't put decent NHL points on the board for several years yet.

A busy evening and morning for me, but I will have an analysis of the Toivonen-Soderberg deal later in the morning.

The Bruins have re-signed Jeff Hoggan. Little fantasy significance here.

Phoenix made a depth signing in adding Ryan Caldwell to their San Antonio roster.
