Nikita Alexeev has signed a deal with Ak Bars Kazan of the RSL. One of many Russians that are fleeing back to their country for better money. Hell, NHLers of all backgrounds are finding the RSL appealing – Daniel Tjarnqvist, who started last season as Edmonton's quarterback on their power play, has also signed with Ak Bars Kazan.

Boston 2004 draft pick Anton Hedman, who played for Guelph of the OHL last year, will be back in Sweden for this season, having signed a contract there.

Michael Arace of the Columbus Dispatch beleives that Kris Russell will make the team this season…if he wasn't so small. At 175 pounds, his odds are less than even (Arace didn't say that, but that is what I gathered from the piece). Arace also indicated that Fedorov wants nothing to do with the blue line. If Russell does make the team, Fedorov will be safe from moving back there.

The Sharks are close to signing Milan Michalek for six years at $26 million. Don't think arbitration (and RFA offer sheets) isn't helping the younger talented players. Wow. Anyway, a Czech website reported that this is a done deal. San Jose Mercury News is saying it is not yet done. But we now have a feel for the numbers involved.

A season ticket for the Florida Panthers will cost as little as $559. That's a like a single Toronto playoff game – first round – in the golds. Americans have it great – I hope they take advantage.

In the "Starting a Pool" section, rules for Keeper League #5 have been added for your perusal.

Keeping Karlsson Short Shifts – The Wilkes-Jarry Penguins

Elizabeth and Lewis are back to take listeners through a host of power play changes that are giving managers the opportunity to get exposure to great players off the waiver wire, including Philly, Jersey, and Tampa talk. They also cover Jarry’s AHL demotion, Cooley’s ascension to the top-line and powerplay, and injuries to Tavares and Hintz.
