The Top 100 Fantasy Defensemen have been updated for September.
The Top 300 Fantasy Players have been updated for September.
The Sharks have signed Patrick Marleau to a two-year extension, thus putting to rest any and all trade rumors involving him. Thanks to "Pete" for the link.
By the end of today, I will have 560,000 page views for the month of August alone. That's a big jump from a year ago. In August of 2006 my page views were 50,000. The secret is out boys. Sorry, you can't keep this site under wraps anymore!
Jose Theodore underwent arthoscopic knee surgery Wednesday and will miss part of training camp. The news just does not want to get any better for Theodore owners.
Peter Skudra, a goalie who played with the Pens, Bruins and Canucks, has retired at the age of 34.
Alexei Cherepanov is out for the remainder of the Super Series. He suffered a concussion in Game 2. He did not take the morning skate and is apparently still in hospital. He was the victim of a Brandon Sutter hit. While he was not going to play in the NHL until next season, he still deserves a small bump down your list…just to be safe. You never know, with those concussions.
The Montreal Gazette is reporting that Bob Gainey says that Patrick Marleau is going nowhere. He had inquired as to the availability and was told that Marleau is not for sale.
The Thrashers have signed rearguard Joel Kwiatkowski. All that does is put up a small barrier for Oystrick and Enstrom when they try to make the team.
Steve Sullivan was at practice yesterday. Too bad it was on the bench. As you know, he is out until mid-December with his back injury. The second surgery was due to finding another disc that had fragmented, which apparently happens 5% of the time after the first surgery. It sounds as if he will be fine when things heal – as in 100%. But we will know more in two weeks.
Cam Ward has shed 20 pounds this summer, and will be in camp in better shape at the request of management.
Vinny Prospal, who is usually an avid golfer, has only played seven times this summer. "I'm just too tired" he says. The reason? He has been working out far more than usual and is better shape than ever. He wants to erase his poor season of a year ago and it says here that he will. Those who bought my POOL GUIDE would know this by now – he goes up/down up/down each season (55 points, 80 points, 55 points, etc.). Look for a big bounce back.
