As I have alluded to all week, the Leafs have indeed signed Tony Salmelainen. The contract is a two-way deal so I would seriously doubt that he will make the big club. Between he and Simon Gamache, the Marlies have two high-scoring forwards that could very well do what Haydar and Stering did in the AHL last season. Both Gamache and Salmelainen will get a cup of coffee with the Leafs, but barring a slew of injuries I wouldn't expect more than that.
Jan Bulis has reportedly signed with Khimik of the Russian Super League.
SPECTOR is reporting of a possible rumor that Danny Markov is considering a contract from the Pittsburgh Penguins. Wow – the Pens could use that kind of sandpaper and this would make a young, formidable team that much better. They certainly are addressing their shortcomings this summer.
