Tarik El Bashir of the Washington Post is my second source - Bouchard, Alzner and Godfrey are done. I thought they went too early on Bouchard...but I'm not the coach. I think he would have done well with the added time and experience in training camp.  Japer's Rink is reporting that the Caps have cut Bouchard [...]

Adam Mair skated on the fourth line between Clarke MacArthur and Jason Pominville in scrimmage. Do not be surprised if Pominville sees less ice time this season - he clicked with Briere, so last year's numbers were obviously inflated...but they may go down this year more than you would think. He is high risk and [...]

As keeper league hockey pools increase in number each year, fantasy junkies become more active in the off-season as they prepare their team for the coming year. Rebuild? Retool? Tweak? Whatever your intentions, it helps to get all the information you can about your players.

Throughout the off-season, FPL will look at a pair of teams each week and give you the fantasy lowdown. Bucking the trend of past years, we will review alphabetically – in reverse. Just to be different.

Leaf line combos: Sundin with Antropov and Blake. Wellwood with Ponikarovsky and Tucker. No surprises here.  Once again, Patrick Eaves will be tried out with Spezza and Heatley. Don't give up on him - he's still quite young and as he gains experience and strength he will come closer to success. Injuries will be the only [...]

2007-08 Hockey Pool Guides

Several DobberHockey writers/personalities contributed some thoughts/critiques on the fantasy magazines that are available on newsstands. I have organized their points and figured that these thoughts, tips and pointers on which magazines to buy would be helpful to the fantasy hockey buff.

*McKeen's and Hockey: The Magazine reviews have been added at the end of the piece.

The Wild have invited A.J. Thelan to camp, as well as goaltender Barry Brust. The Stars have invited Phillip Sauve to camp - he becomes their No.3 goaltender, but will likely back up Stephan in the AHL. He'll be the first callup if Turco or Smith get hurt, as the team would rather Stephan play the [...]

Bentivoglio

With the opening of NHL training camps, comes high hopes for many young players.  When you hear a list of New York Islanders prospects, names like Tambellini, Bergenheim and Okposo come to mind.  One name that should be added to that list is college hockey stand out Sean Bentivoglio. He was bypassed by every NHL team in his draft year and signed with the Isles as a free agent in May 2007.

Teppo Numminen will undergo heart surgery. It's best to just take him off your draft list altogether.  Apparently, the Blue Jackets will try out Zherdev at center - that would certainly solve their No.1 center problems! Keep an eye on that situation.  The Pens have invited Adam Hall to training camp. That one's interesting. I doubt [...]
