Give your take on the John Tavares situation here .  The Leafs, via the Marlies, are trying to get John Tavares signed to a pro contract. Their logic is pretty smart, actually, and this would definitely sell tickets for their minor league team. Here is the link with all the info - Leafs make overtures on [...]

Yahoo! Position Eligibility

Erat

Yahoo! Is the most popular fantasy hockey league manager, but they can sometimes be quite slow to reflect the reality of the NHL as far as player position eligibility goes. So it’s important to keep an eye out for changes in that area, because some players can become quite attractive once they gain a new position. Here’s a recap of some recent eligibility changes and how it affects a player’s value.

Ryan Callahan may have sprained his knee, or worse. Indications are that it is a mild sprain, but he is going for an MRI today and will likely not dress tomorrow. Greg Moore or Alex Bourret will be recalled to take his spot. To make room for another forward, Thomas Pock had to be waived. [...]

Many expected the Los Angeles Kings to challenge for a playoff spot this season, but it looks like they are still at least another season away. The Kings have been a nightmare defensively, and decided that getting stud prospect Jonathan Bernier out of town before his development was 'screwed up' was the best idea.

TSN is reporting that Joni Pitkanen will be out of the Edmonton lineup for the next two weeks. They did not say why, only that he has not skated for a few days. Ladislav Smid is expected to be recalled. But expect Tom Gilbert to finally get some PP time.  Bryan Berard will be out 2-4 [...]

Solving the Meniscus Mystery

Leclaire

I’m often dead wrong on predictions, but that’s okay because I love when goalies silence their critics and prove to everyone what horrible analysts they really are. Well, before the season started I severely downgraded Manny Legace and Pascal Leclaire due to the tragic meniscus injuries they suffered last season. Two weeks into the season and so much for THAT lousy line of reasoning.

Is This the Year for Carter?

Carter

Everyone believes it is coming. It just hasn’t happened yet.

Jeff Carter was one of the premier prospects in the game and when he made the NHL at age 20 he showed enough flashes of brilliance to convince most pundits that somewhere inside that 6-foot-3, 200-pound frame was a star in the making.

The Tucker injury is apparently in his knee - and it looks bad enough to keep him out for a few weeks. Stay tuned...  The FAN 590 reports that Darcy Tucker was not in practice. More on that as I hear.  Kari Lehtonen's groin injury will keep him out for four to six weeks. Pavelec will surprise [...]

Antropov

He’s been an enigma for years, but every time he showed a flash of a promise, Nik Antropov went down with an injury. It is at the point where fantasy pundits are afraid to predict a breakout year for him. But so far, he is doing exactly that.

Ondrej Pavelec did not get the start yesterday, but he ended up seeing his first NHl action as the Lightning chased Hedberg out of the net with five goals in 24 shots. Pavelec gave up a goal on six shots and is an excellent goalie to pick up in all fantasy formats, as he will [...]
