I wrote today's Daily Slate and today's Fantasy Spin …

The Blues placed Barret Jackman on the IR because of a concussion and they have recalled Steve Wagner. While I do like Wagner, I think what this really means is that EJ will have more ice time for the next little while.

My mailbag for this week is up on The Hockey News.

Dustin Brown returned last night, but Cammalleri did not. Cammy gave it a whirl in the morning skate but his ribs still gave him too much pain. It does not seem like it will be much longer though.

Josh Harding gave up eight goals, but was hung out to dry. Still, with back-to-back games, you can probably count on Backstrom starting tonight and he will have an opportunity to win the starting job back.

Martin St. Pierre played under eight minutes in his season debut.

Brent Sopel injured his hand in the first period last night.

Defenseman James Wisniewski injured his knee in a fight at the end of last night's contest and will be out four to six weeks.

The 'Hawks also placed Ben Eager on IR with a mild concussion. Rene Bourque returned to the lineup after missing 15 with a broken thumb.

Nash missed last night's game with sore throat. He was a last minute scratch and will likely miss tonight's contest as well.

Mike Peca left the morning skate because of a headache.

Cheechoo returned to the lineup after missing seven games with a groin injury. He played 14:42

Matt Cullen was caught with a questionable check from Colton Orr last night and hit the ice unconscious. He suffered a broken nose and likely a concussion.

Mattias Ohlund will miss tonight's game with a sore neck.

Mark Eaton's knee injury will keep him on the shelf indefinitely and possibly for the entire season. This does not effect fantasy hockey per se, but just know that when he was out last season the Pens lost a lot of games… but when he returned they went on that second-half run.

It is likely that Ty Conklin will get the start again tonight.

The injury to Ales Hemsky (knee) will move Sam Gagner up to the top line. Patrick Thoresen will move up to play with Nilsson and Pisani, which will likely hurt their production.

Cristobal Huet will likely get the start tonight for the Habs.

Glen Murray's hip flexor will keep him out for about three weeks.

Simon Gagne is still about two weeks away from a return to the lineup, but is getting closer.

Rick DiPietro left last night's contest with a knee injury that he hurt in pregame warmups. The Isles have recalled Joey McDonald.

Ryan Smyth (neck) will return to the lineup tonight.

Brett Sterling has 18 goals in 14 AHL games. He is the real deal and I can't wait to see him start lighting it up in the NHL.

Tim Connolly was back in the Buffalo lineup and picked up two assists in the loss last night.

The Coyotes have recalled Enver Lisin from San Antonio.

Vesa Toskala did not play last night because he tweaked his groin. The Leafs have recalled Scott Clemmensen and Andrew Raycroft will get the start tonight.

Despite having a broken thumb, Brian Pothier was back in the Washington lineup last night.

Eric Fehr, who has not played since February with a hip/back ailment, could suit up for Hershey in about a month.
