The 2007-08 season has been underway for a while now in Europe, so it's about time we checked in. Prospects from past drafts- as well as the next two- are making plenty of noise in Sweden, Finland, Russia and everywhere in between... and a couple of blasts from the pasts are, too. Find out who they are- and learn a bit more about the developmental systems in each country- in today's Bugg Bytes.

Trevor Linden and Mason Raymond were healthy scratches in favor of Byron Ritchie and Brad Isbister last night. It looks as if the four of them will all take turns this season.  Brandon Bochenski was a healthy scratch last night.  The B's wanted offense, and got it in a big way against the Kings in [...]

A Little Patience

Crosby

It’s only been a week and I sense that some fantasy owners are starting to get antsy over the slow starts by some established players.  Ok, so Sidney Crosby has started slowly, why even Marek Malik has more points than the former Art Ross and Hart trophy winner does at the moment.  It is definitely time to panic; I think we’re seeing the real Crosby here.  Now that he’s signed his fat long term contract, he’s turned into Sendme Cashby.

For the Crosby owners in my fantasy leagues, I’d gladly take him off your hands at a fair price.

Last night I watched the PHO-NSH game and Radulov had two points, including the final NSH goal. However, this morning I see that they gave his goal to Fiddler, so he had a one-point night, not two as I stated below.  Bryan Berard was a minus-3 last night. That won't impress Nolan...but he still was out [...]

The Canucks, unhappy with his minus-4 last night and minus-7 on the season, have assigned Ryan Shannon to Manitoba. He has the same points this season as Naslund, who is a minus-6...but Naslund is a proven commodity whereas Shannon is still finding his way in the NHL. Losing 8-2, someone had to take the fall, [...]

Radulov

We’re basically a week into the season and already some players have seen their fantasy value fluctuate, either positively thanks to a great start to the season or on the down side because of early struggles. So let’s separate the Frogs from the Princes as we take a look at the hot and the not after a week of play.

Alexei Ponikarovsky has injured his leg in the morning skate. Simon Gamache and Anton Stralman have been called up from the Marlies. Gamache will play on a line with Tucker and Stajan. If you have a roster spot where the pickings are slim...and you have a 'what the hell?' attitude...give Gamache a one-game look-see. He [...]

Stastny

All poolies are aware of the dreaded sophomore slump. Talented second year players for whatever reason cannot rekindle the magic of their rookie seasons. They struggle with consistency, and over the years have killed many fantasy teams. Many second year players are often overlooked because of this perceived slump, which may allow some talented youngsters to slip down the depth chart.

The Isles have finally and officially signed Bryan Berard to a contract. He is most definitely worth a pick up in your roto league asap. Not so much in keepers, because of his injury risk. I sat on that bum for nearly three years... and NOW he looks good?  The Hossa news is a huge opportunity [...]
