The 'Canes have placed John Grahame on waivers and have recalled Michael Leighton from Albany. Leighton has had an excellent AHL campaign. Leighton does not have to clear re-entry waivers because he is making less than $100K in the AHL.

Andrew Ladd underwent facial surgery (that's all I know!) and is day-to-day.

Scott Walker's knee injury will keep him out 7-10 days. Who's left in Carolina? Wow.

Whoa – it turns out that Ryan Smyth's ankle is actually fractured and he is out for eight weeks. It's Brunette's time to shine now, but also watch Svatos and Wolski.

According to Washington's beat writer, Alexander Semin did not make the road trip after all. He will not play Boston tonight, but could still catch up with the team in Montreal.

Simon Gagne has stiffness in his neck and will not return to the lineup until next week. They are being extremely cautious with him, which is a good thing if you own Gagne as he is the type of player who will re-injure himself. He is a Band-aid Boy, that's what he does. He is targeting a Tuesday return. He has been practicing with Briere and Umberger – I don't have to tell you what that means for Umberger.

Sheldon Souray has been sent home to have his shoulder examined. It's expected Souray will miss tonight's start in Nashville.

Tom Poti is day to day with an upper body injury. He missed practice yesterday and did not accompany the team on their two game road trip (Boston and Montreal). Green becomes that much more valuable, as he will get some of Poti's PP time.

Alexander Semin also did not practice, but he is expected to be in the lineup tonight against the Bruins.

Manny Legace left after the first period last night because of a stomach ailment.

Martin Havlat should return to the Chicago lineup Sunday. Meanwhile, the team has recalled Kris Versteeg from the minors to replace Toews. Versteeg has 29 in 30 in the AHL and is ranked 252 on my prospects list due to his size and the fact that he is a couple of years away.

Sergei Zubov suffered a hand injury Monday and missed last night's contest as a result. He is day to day and could back Saturday.

Marty Turco allowed four goals on 26 shots and saw his record against the Red Wings fall to 1-9-5.

Dallas' top line of Brenden Morrow, Mike Ribeiro and Antti Miettinen was held off the scoresheet for the second consecutive game, mustering three shots on goal and finishing minus-5.

Mark Recchi's two points last night gives him 12 in 12 in an Atlanta uniform and he's still going strong.

Dominik Hasek will get the start Saturday.

Henrik Zetterberg was back in the Detroit lineup last night and picked up two assists.

From the Miami Herald: Jacques Martin said injured defenseman Cory Murphy is skating again, but said he still has no idea when Murphy will return to the lineup. Murphy has been out with what has been called a bruised shoulder since November. Florida's power play has struggled in Murphy's absence. The Panthers' power play, once ranked at the top of the league, has dropped to eighth. Murphy has a goal and eight assists on the power play this season. He still has some problems with the shoulder,'' Martin said. “It's still not good enough for him to shoot the puck. He's just doing conditioning.'

David Legwand and Ryan Suter were both back in practice yesterday but both are doubtful for tonight's contest against Edmonton. Legwand (upper body), Suter (leg) and defenseman Shea Weber (leg) did not travel to Dallas because of injuries.

Weber suffered a setback and will be out for at least another week.
