The Capitals have claimed Kris Beech for about the 19th time. With Nylander out, he will get a look on the second line ONLY if and when Gordon, Semin and Fleischmann cool off. I don't think they will stick him right in there. He is like an insurance policy. He is more offensively talented than Gordon, though.

The Canucks placed Kris Beech on waivers. They recalled Jason Jaffray. Having lost six of seven, they are shaking things up.

Cory Murphy was back in the Florida lineup after missing 30 games. He played over seven minutes on the power play, but was pointless.

Henrik Zetterberg (back) missed last night's game and will be out until after the All-Star break.

Chris Osgood had a 27-save shutout last night – his first good game since the big contract. The jitters are behind him.

Ilya Kovalchuk was ejected after hitting Michal Rozsival from behind late in the first last night. He will likely be suspended so stay tuned.

Atlanta's Brad Larsen left the contest with a leg injury.

Joni Pitkanen returned the Edmonton lineup and led the team in ice time last night.

Phil Kessel appeared to injure his wrist during a second-period collision with defenseman Francis Bouillon, and he headed to the dressing room at 3:17. But he returned later in the period and played a total of 15:37

The Avs traded Mark Rycroft (in the minors) for Philippe Dupuis and defenseman Darcy Campbell. Dupuis, a forward, is ranked 278 in my fantasy prospect rankings.

Tim Connolly and Maxim Afinogenov are still nursing their groin injuries and are out until after the All-Star break, with no timetable set for their return.

Jonathan Toews is still three weeks away from returning from his knee injury.

JP Dumont has 18 points during a 13-game point streak.

Radek Bonk is questionable for Thursday's game with an arm injury. David Legwand (ankle) is out until at least after the All-Star break.

If Sidney Crosby missed the full eight weeks, he will return in time to play 11 games at the end of the season. Count on 12 games and 18 points, giving him 81 on the season.

Since Michal Nylander had surgery, Tomas Fleischmann has five points in four games.

Downie-Clarkson fight last night. I apologize for the music, but some clowns just don't know how to leave a good thing alone:
