TSN is reporting that Vancouver rearguard Lukas Krajicek will undergo season ending shoulder surgery. He is a Band-Aid Boy, so if you own him you had to figure something like this could happen to him.

It looks like Lidstrom will be on the shelf for about 10 days.

The Kings traded Modry to Philly for a third rounder.

Andy Sutton is on the shelf for 4-6 weeks with that hamstring tear.

Radim Vrbata has 40 points in his last 35 games. He is a great dark horse candidate for an 80-point season next year.

Nicklas Lidstrom suffered an injured right knee in the first period yesterday. It's a sprain and is not expected to keep him out long, but he may miss a couple of games. We will know more later today or tomorrow.

The Blackhawks signed Brent Seabrook to a three-year contract extension. By the end of that contract, he might be a 45-point player. Worth $3.5 per season? Compared to the Toronto contracts, it's a good one, if you want to look at it that way…

The Flyers recalled Claude Giroux and Stefan Ruzicka yesterday. Giroux is up on an emergency basis so I do not see him sticking more than a handful of games, but he is a prolific junior scorer – one of the best right now – so if you need a depth winger temporarily, he is your man.

Ray Whitney missed yesterday's contest with a groin injury. Erik Cole missed because of the flu.

Anze Kopitar has the flu, but played last night anyway and was a minus-2.

Lauri Tukonen played just 9:48 and did not see PP time. Teddy Purcell played 12:28 and saw 1:36 on the PP.

Andy Sutton left yesterday's contest with seconds remaining. He suffered a pulled hamsring.

Blake Comeau also left the game, but is expected to play tomorrow.

With two points tonight, Evgeni Malkin will lead the NHL in scoring. He is behind Ovechkin by one point and Ovy has the night off.

Max Talbot replaced Ryan Malone on the Malkin line. The line is now Talbot, Malkin, Sykora.

Sidney Crosby will not play tonight, but we are at that point now: game by game updates.

Pittsburgh options, according to the post-gazette: The Penguins will have several options after Fleury returns, if they opt against carrying three goalies. They could return Ty Conklin, who was brought up on emergency recall after Fleury was hurt, to the Baby Penguins without putting him through waivers — provided they did so in conjunction with Fleury being activated, or earlier — but aren't likely to demote a guy who is 15-4-3 and ranks first in the NHL in save percentage (.932) and fourth in goals-against average (2.19). They also could send Dany Sabourin to Wilkes-Barre, but he would have to clear waivers first. The previous time the Penguins tried that, Sabourin was claimed by Vancouver. Regardless of who stays on the major-league roster, Therrien said playing time will be doled out on merit. Fleury will play one or two more games in the AHL.

Stephen Weiss broke his finger on his left hand Saturday and will be out of the lineup for at least the next two weeks.

Miami Herald: Cory Murphy found his role on Florida's power play diminished in Friday's win against Washington, then was scratched for Saturday's loss at Carolina. Assistant coach Guy Charron said the benching was intentional. Murphy — who missed two months with a shoulder injury — was not playing the way they wanted. Murphy has been back in the lineup since Jan. 22, playing nine games. Assistant coach Mike Kitchen added Magnus Johansson, who was scratched since Murphy returned and needed some playing time. ''He missed so much hockey, he's trying to get his timing back,'' Charron said of Murphy.

Nikolai Khabibulin will serve as backup to Lalime on Tuesday as his knee is getting better.

Jason Williams hopes to be back in the Chicago lineup on Wednesday.

Yanic Perreault has a fracture in his right wrist and will be sideline for about 10 days.
