Angus here… Mike Gillis has been confirmed as the new Canucks GM and will be introduced to the media in a press conference on Wednesday. He is a former agent to the likes of Pavel Bure and Markus Naslund (interesting side story with Naslund as a UFA).
Joffrey Lupul scored his first goal of the playoffs to push the Flyers ahead to the second round. They will have to tighten up big time defensively if they have any hopes of keeping up with the high-flying Habs.
The East match-ups are now set: MTL vs. PHI, and PIT vs. NYR. The West will depend what happens tonight in San Jose. I'll have an article ready for your viewing pleasure sometime on Wednesday.
The Kostitsyn brothers were united last night and responded with 3 goals. 2 by Andre and 1 by Sergei in Montreal's 5-0 shutout win in game 7. We may see moe of this upcoming in the playoffs as they looked very comfortable together.
Now this is how to celebrate……….Montreal fans took to the streets looting shops, and torched 12 police cruisers after the win last night. There were also dozens of arrests. Think what might happen if they won the cup. I think the Montreal police and RCMP will be better prepared next time around.
Scratches for the Canadians last night included Ryder and Latendresse.
Ovechkin responded in a big way with the final 2goals in a 4-2 Capitals win to force game 7 last night.
Kyle Mclaren is a gametime decision for the Sharks tonight in Game 7 against Calgary.
Canada's under 18 world team won their semifinal yesterday and some familar names were on the scoresheet again. Both Taylor Hall and Matt Duchense scored to send Canada into the final. Don't be surprised if one of these 2 make Canada's World Junior team next December.
