The Blackhawks have signed Dustin Byfuglien, James Wisniewski and Adam Burish. Byfuglien will probably start next season defenseman- eligible in most fantasy leagues, but will essentially be a forward. For 2009- 10 I am sure he will then be changed to a winger for fantasy purposes. Burish had 214 PIMs and makes a great dark horse for that category.
Jeremy Roenick has signed a one-year deal with the Sharks.
Boston has signed Aaron Ward to a multi-year contract.
Mike Modano will return next season. Retirement won't happen this summer, according to the Dallas Morning News.
Brenden Morrow played some of the postseason with a partial tear in his shoulder.
Billionaire Alexander Mevedev is spearheading expansion for the RSL. The league will become the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) and will expand from 20 to 24 teams, adding a team from Latvia, Kazakhstan, Belarus as well as Avtomobilist Ekaterinburg from the Russian second division. Medvedev is also trying to recruit Vastra Frolunda and Farjestads of the Swedish Elite League. As things stand now, there will be six four divisions and will have an entry draft. A $25 million salary cap will also be in place. The Globe and Mail is also reporting that Jaromir Jagr is rumored to have been offered as much as $12 million by Dynamo Moscow. Medvedev is looking to rival the NHL, as salary restrictions will be lifted for NHL imports.
Colorado forward Jaroslav Hlinka has signed to play in the Swedish Elite League next season. His NHL stay was a brief one.
