Blake Wheeler will be a Boston Bruin come July 1st. Since he is unrestricted, nothing can be finalized until that date, but for all intents and purposes he is a Bruin. Look for him to be wearing the spoked B come next season.
Johan Hedberg has signed a MULTI-year deal. A one year deal would not be of interest, as prospect Ondrej Pavelec could use another year in the AHL. What does this mean for soon-to-be-RFA Kari Lehtonen?
Look for Kyle Beach to be drafted much higher than he is ranked this Friday. His coach spoke glowingly of him in an article yesterday, calling him the brightest player he has had in over 25 years. Toronto and St. Louis have both reportedly expressed interest in the fiesty winger.
Look for the Penguins to push hard to get Hossa locked up this week. They tabled him an offer reportedly worth over $7 million over six or seven seasons. If he takes it, he is a lock for 50 goals next year.
The Rangers have signed fiesty winger Andreas Jamtin. He plays a very agitating style. Does this mean Sean Avery is done on Broadway?
Nashville has re-signed RFA defenseman Ryan Suter to a four year deal worth $3.5 million per season. On the surface it seems like a good deal, but it takes Suter right up to his UFA status, not eating any of those valuable years.
Bruce Garrioch is reporting that the Sens are trying to trade Emery before they buy him out. The Blues are said to be interested. He also speculates that Bryan McGrattan will not be given a qualifying offer and will become a UFA.
Colin McPhee still needs to email me at dobber@ dobberhockey.com to give me contact info, etc. He won the third prize of the Dobber Playoff Pool – a Sever Goaltending custom designed blocker valued at over $200. If anybody knows him – get the word out! Thanks to all 2250 participants who participated this year.
