TSN: "The Calgary Flames announced Friday that the team has re-signed centres Craig Conroy and Daymond Langkow, left wing Eric Nystrom and goaltender Curtis McElhinney." This is not unexpected, as they were just waiting for the salary cap info.

TSN: "The Dallas Stars announced Friday that the club has signed left wing Loui Eriksson to a two-year contract worth $3.2 million ($1.5 million in 2008-09 and $1.7 million in 2009-10)." Ever improving, I think Eriksson is a breakout candidate this season.

The Ducks placed Todd Bertuzzi on waivers and will buy him out. He'll never play 70 games again, but in the right situation he could still get 65 points.

"The Master" Shawn Bates has been placed on waivers for the purpose of a buyout.

The Canucks qualified Ryan Shannon, as well as Rypien, Brown, Fitzgerald and McIver. Drew MacIntyre was not qualified despite a strong AHL season. If the Canucks do not land a winger, Shannon makes a great dark horse. Watch and see if his contract is one-way.

Boston rearguard Dennis Wideman has filed for arbitration. According to the Boston Globe, if a player is given an arbitration award, the team will have 48 hours to decide if they need to buy a player out – in which case they can. So Boston does not have to buy out Glen Murray by June 30 – they can wait until Wideman's hearing is over and buy him out then. An interesting tidbit.

The Oilers have qualified Stoll and Pitkanen. Glencross, Reasoner and Sanderson will be UFA's.

The Canucks will not make offers to Morrison, Miller, Sandford, Ritchie, Isbister and Weaver – all will be UFA's. Markus Naslund is doubtful, in my opinion, but they're talking.

Omsk has offered Jagr $35 million over three years according to Larry Brooks of the NY Post. That's tax free.

The Panthers signed Gregory Campbell to a two-year contract extension. Campbell is best known – legendary, in fact – for starring in my banner up top.

Pierre Parenteau signed a contract extension with the Rangers. The high-scoring AHLer for some reason has never been given a real NHL shot and I don't see that changing.

Rimouski drafted TB prospect Luca Cunti in the CHL import draft. Cunti is ranked 167 on my Fantasy Prospects List.

Jon Klemm has signed to play in the German League.

A second source is listing a Straka deal with HC Plzen of the Czech League as confirmed. Straka's agent still maintains that he remains unsigned.

Elizabeth and Lewis reunite to bring you all the latest fantasy news and strategy, such as how our siblings would fare if called on to fill our roles like Owen Sillinger did for bro Cole. Injuries and outjuries include a pair of goalies returning to their teams in Ingram and Shesterkin, as well as how Monahan’s wrist injury opens the door for big minutes for Fantilli. Finally, the pair touch on Voronkov and PLD’s hot streaks, and discuss John Carlson’s rollercoaster in light of Chychrun’s production.

On this edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast mega-show, Elan and Brian tour every team, ranking a slate of the least bad goalies, noticing the wind in some Red Wings’ and Stars’ sails, dangling snoozer status above a pair of commonly rostered power-play quarterbacks, and rushing or strolling, accordingly, to some skaters on the up and up.
