The Flyers have signed Arron Asham to a multi-year contract. It will be a tough lineup to crack.
The Pens have signed Finnish scoring star Janne Pesonen to a one-year contract. The 26-year-old led the Finnish Elite League last season. I think he will get a look on one of the big lines in Pittsburgh and he could put up decent points for 30 games or so. But all too often, I have seen the Nils Ekmans, Jiri Dopitas, and Janne Lahtis fall out of favor and start getting benched or demoted. High risk/reward.
The Leafs have signed Matt Stajan to a two-year contract. Stajan will linger around the 40-point mark this year.
The Wild have signed rearguard Tomas Mojzis to a multi-year contract, taking him from the Continental League. He will not have any fantasy impact in the near future.
The Sens signed Greg Mauldin to a two-way contract. He probably will not get into the NHL this year, if ever.
The Flames have signed Todd Bertuzzi to a one-year deal. Analysis to come.
The Jackets have signed RJ Umberger to a four-year deal.
The Hurricanes signed Dennis Seidenberg to a one-year deal. He'll be lucky to play, given what the team has done to their back end.
The Wild have signed Owen Nolan to an insane two-year deal. There are some teams that he wouldn't even make these days, yet the Wild will give him $2.75 million per season?
The Wild also signed Jesse Schultz. He makes a great depth player in that now the team won't be forced to recall prospects who are undeserving of the recall. Schultz gets it done at the AHL level. The team also signed No.3 goalie Barry Brust.
Because Valterri Filppula filed for salary arbitration, he is ineligible to receive offer sheets.
TB has signed veteran minor leaguer Zenon Konopka to a two-year pact.
Maxim Mayorov, ranked 114th on my Fantasy Prospects List, will be at the Jackets' prospects camp.
