Kurtis Foster is out for five-to-seven days with a lower body injury. He was playing on the first unit, so expect either Meszaros or Ranger to fill in for the time being.
Brian Boucher has been activated from the IR. If you need a goalie who will put up good numbers, he makes for a solid option. Emery should see 50-60 starts, leaving 20 or 30 for Boucher.
According to Andy Strickland, Eric Brewer was on the ice this morning. No word on how close he is to returning yet. He never has been and never will be a big-time scorer, but with all of the talent that the Blues possess, Brewer should be good for 30 or 35 points in a given season.
Erik Cole is out four to six weeks with a fracture in his lower left leg. Tim Conboy will take his spot on the roster. Drayson Bowman has one goal in one AHL game, and I would expect that he would get the call only if Conboy falters.
The Blackhawks have now sent Corey Crawford to the minors. They just wanted a bit more proof to what they already suspected – Niemi is a very good goaltender and more than capable of being a starter in the NHL. I wonder why the team went with Crawford in the playoffs though?
The Panthers have returned to North America and have made some moves. Alexander Salak has been sent down, as has Michal Repik. The team has been playing Ville Koistinen up front and he has been playing well there. If Koistinen can get 40 points as a forward while still maintaining his d-man eligibility, he makes an excellent pickup.
Florida has signed Dominic Moore to a contract. Barring a couple of injuries, there is no way he can even come close to what he was doing last year in Toronto.
Montreal has recalled Yannick Weber. He won’t be the PP QB, but he will run the second unit and pick up his share of points. On Saturday the team had Hamrlik and Spacek first, then Mara and Jorges. Weber would replace Gorges. Mara had the second most ice time on the team behind Spacek.
Mike Commodore has a groin injury and the Blue Jackets recalled Mat Roy to replace him.
The Tennessean is reporting that JP Dumont will be fine. I get the feeling that he will not miss any games, although nobody said that outright.
He has yet to dress for the Penguins, but the Gazette has a full article on Chris Bourque. Indications are that he will get into the lineup Wednesday. I took a flyer on Bourque in my second of two keeper league drafts, rolling the dice on him with a late pick. The downside would be that he gets sent down, Washington reclaims him, and he remains with them for the year and posts 25 points.
