The Fantasy Guide will be updated every three days or so, next update is tomorrow. VERY interesting implications to the Erik Johnson injury below. Steve Wagner and Jeff Woywitka owners benefit for sure.

BREAKING NEWS: Erik Johnson is out for the next SIX to NINE months with a TORN ACL! Huge injury blow…

You can buy the fully updated Fantasy Guide HERE , or if you insist on more info about it, read up on it HERE

Some interesting line combinations out West tonight… Calgary is putting prospect Mikael Backlund on a line with Bertuzzi and Iginla, and Vancouver is putting two roster hopefuls – Michael Grabner and Jannik Hansen – on the top line with Henrik Sedin.

What can the Jackets do to get a goalie who stays healthy? Steve Mason underwent knee surgery today and will be shelved for 4-6 weeks. Mason was the goalie that I thought would take over for LeClaire when LeClaire, a Band-Aid Boy, got one too many injuries.

The Penguins have cut: Kris Beech, Ryan Stone, Adam Henrich, Aaron Boogaard, Tim Wallace, Jonathan Filewich, David Gove, Chris Minard, Deryk Engelland, TJ Kemp, Ben Lovejoy, Joey Mormina and David Brown. The team now has 16 forwards, 10 d-men and 3 goalies in camp.

The Red Wings have made the following cuts: Randy Cameron, Zach Torquato, Stephen Johnston, Travis Ehrhardt, Thomas McCollum, Cameron Cepek, Jordan Foreman, Cody Thornton, Bryce Swan, Joe Ryan.

Roman Hamrlik left last night's contest with an undisclosed injury.

Daniel Alfredsson missed both preseason games with a hip/groin injury. Considering that this area bothered him in the second half of last season, I would be quite concerned about his ability to play more than 70 games this season.

Manny Fernandez stopped 10 of 12 shots last night – not the way to steal a No. 1 spot.

Patrice Bergeron tallied four points last night – not a bad return.

Jeff Carter played with Upshall and Giroux last night. They were out there for the empty net winner.

New/old Devil Brian Rolston played with Gionta and Elias last night.

Fedor Fedorov played over 20 minutes last night, but was a minus-2.

Andreas Nodl was a plus-2 with an assist for Philly. He is ranked 59th on my prospects list, but this won't be his year.

In my Ryan Shannon watch, he was pointless and a minus-1 in 10:34 of ice time last night. It looks like he is on his way to Binghamton. Jess Winchester and the Big 3 did not play last night. He played with Vermette and Foligno.

Camp tryout invitee Petr Nedved scored for the Rangers last night. He could be the 13th forward/ PP specialist this season, which is good for as many as 40 points.

Pens rearguard Alex Goligoski earned two assists last night and played 23 minutes. Letan also had two points and played an astounding 28:26.

Janne Pesonen was pointless and a minus-1, playing 17:21 for the Pens.

Stamkos has yet to record a point in two games, both of which saw over 19 minutes in ice time. He is in no danger of missing the NHL roster.

Paul Stastny missed practice yesterday with that bruised shoulder.

Brendan Morrison is cleared to play now and he will be scrimmaging with the rest of the Ducks today.

Prospect Oscar Moller picked up three points in LA's win yesterday. Mollar is a long shot to make the team thi syear, but next year could be a force. He is ranked 90th on my prospects list, with a lot of upside.

It is too bad that Carlo Colaiacovo can't seem to play 40 games in a season, because he looked very good last night, picking up a pair of points against the Sabres.

Marek Zagrapan had three points and looked great in Buffalo's loss. Zagrapan is ranked 86th on my prospects list. He won't make the team this year, but there is still promise.

The Rangers have signed Evgeny Grachev to an entry-level contract. Grachev, a budding power forward, is ranked 164 on my prospects list.

Preds rearguard Ville Koistinen left practice yesterday with a knee injury. The team says it is probably not serious.

Zach Bogosian sat out last night's game with a hip flexor strain.

Cuts

Boston: Denis Reul, Michael Hutchinson, Jamie Arniel, Wacey Rabbit, Levi Nelson, Kevin Nastiuk
Phoenix: Kurtis Mucha, Colin Long, Tyler Johnson

Keeping Karlsson Short Shifts – Thanks for Vejmelkmories

Elizabeth and Lewis reunite to bring you all the latest fantasy news and strategy, such as how our siblings would fare if called on to fill our roles like Owen Sillinger did for bro Cole. Then it’s onto news including coverage of the postponed CGY/LAK game and defensive injuries piling up in MIN and putting some strain on Gustavsson’s performance. Injuries and outjuries include a pair of goalies returning to their teams in Ingram and Shesterkin, as well as how Monahan’s wrist injury opens the door for big minutes for Fantilli. Finally, the pair touch on Voronkov and PLD’s hot streaks, and discuss John Carlson’s rollercoaster in light of Chychrun’s production.

Keeping Karlsson: Tuch Hunch

On this edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast mega-show, Elan and Brian tour every team, ranking a slate of the least bad goalies, noticing the wind in some Red Wings’ and Stars’ sails, dangling snoozer status above a pair of commonly rostered power-play quarterbacks, and rushing or strolling, accordingly, to some skaters on the up and up.
