The DobberHockey Fantasy Guide and Draft List are updated as of now.

Washington cut Chris Bourque, Karl Alzner and Quentin Laing.

Keep a close eye on the Marian Gaborik situation. From Michael Russo's blog: "I do think we're at the point though where a trade seems like a real possibility."

Brett Sterling and Zach Bogosian made the cut. Atlanta's final cuts were Colin Stuart, Joey Crabb and Boris Valabik.

The Avs have cut Kyle Cumiskey. Three more cuts to go.

The Canucks have acquired Michel Ouellet and Shane O'Brien. Analysis is up now.

The Leafs have placed Mark Bell on waivers to send him to the AHL.

Blues CUTS: Chris Porter and Tyson Strachan. The team still has three more cuts to make.

Cody Hodgson is expected to be sent back to Brampton (OHL) before the Canucks open the seaosn on Thursday against the Flames. His camp was solid but not good enough to crack the roster.

Mason Raymond had two goals last night for the Canucks in their final preseason game. Him and Demitra are really clicking.

Calgary has waived Jamie Lundmark, Anders Eriksson, and Rhett Warrener. Doubtful that any of them get claimed.

Scott Walker is out six weeks with a torn ligament in his hand. This opens up a roster spot for rookie Zach Boychuck, if he is ready. He would have seen the nine-game stint anyway, so this increases his chances of sticking all year.

Kevin Porter is having a strong training camp in Phoenix. Wayne Gretzky loves his versatility and has had him play center, right wing as well as the point on the power play.

The Flyers released Bryan Berard from his tryout contract.

Patric Hornqvist played 17:47 last night, Ryan Jones played 11:43. It is clear which way the Preds are leaning. Pihlstrom did not play last night.

Tim Connolly has missed five games with a sore back but he fully expects to play Friday in the season opener. Expect 50 games this year from the oft-injured Connolly and be very happy if he can get to 65. He is close to a point-per-game player though, so he is worth owning.

Greg Logan, who covers the Islanders for Newsday, has this to say about Jack Hillen, and the Danis vs. McDonald battle in net: "Hillen is a very skilled puck-mover and has enjoyed a strong camp. He's on the small side, and the Devils roughed him up a bit three games ago. But with Andy Sutton and Chris Campoli starting the year on injured reserve, I feel Hillen not only will make the team but will be on the third pairing with Mark Streit and play with him on the top PP. Danis and Joey MacDonald each had strong outings the past two games with Danis beating New Jersey and MacDonald beating Boston today. It's been pretty even. I would give a slight edge to Danis, but MacDonald has the one-way contract and will be Rick DiPietro's backup."

Rod Brind'Amour amazingly was back in the lineup last night a good two weeks early. He played just over 15 minutes.

Tuomo Ruutu has missed time with a groin injury. He should be back for the first game, but that is not certain.

Nikita Filatov, subject of yesterday's article, scored a nice goal last night less than two minutes into the game. He also scored the only goal in the shootout – a sniper's goal. He played 12:15
Russell and Backman were the QBs for Columbus last night. However Klesla led the offense from the blue line (again) with two points.

CUTS
New Jersey's cuts were posted yesterday, but essentially Petr Vrana made the roster, as has Anssi Salmela (a great dark horse for defensemen).
Columbus: Richard Matvichuk
Detroit: Mattias Ritola, Jan Mursak, Cory Emmerton, Justin Abdelkader
Minnesota: Tyler Cuma, Danny Irmen, Krys Kolanos, Cal Clutterbuck, Justin Falk (Benoit Pouliot has made the team – Colton Gillies may have made it as well)
Montreal: Alex Henry
Toronto: Justin Pogge, Robbie Earl, Kyle Rogers, Richard Petiot
