Freshly updated – the Final Update – Dobber's Fantasy Guide and Player Draft List – up to the minute! Up Now!
As expected, the Preds cut Antti Pihlstrom. Making the team for now are Patric Hornqvist and Ryan Jones.
With 90 minutes left until the NHL's cut deadline, Nikita Filatov has officially be assigned to Syracuse. He will be back – sooner, rather than later.
NHL teams have until 3pm ET to get down to 23 men on their roster. Columbus is expected to cut Nikita Filatov today – but he will be back because the OHL will allow him to go to the AHL.
Justin has launched his newest website, The Avalanche Guild . This site is home for all things Avalanche so if you are a local Colorado resident, or just a huge Avs fan, check this site out.
The Fantasy Guide and Draft List will be updated later this afternoon. It will be the final updated for both, but I will hold off until news of the afternoon starts to pour in. Does the other fantasy magazine you bought tell you that Cam Barker was cut? Teddy Purcell? What about the O'Brien/Krajicek trade? Don't get left behind – buy this updated guide and support the free site you have come to love!!!
The Flyers farm team – the Phantoms – beat the big club in an exhibition game last night. Don't read anything into it, but if you want to join an interesting discussion (and see my take), check out this thread in our forum.
Besides waiving Schaefer, the Bruins also cut Jeremy Reich (waived), Nate Thompson (waived) and Matt Hunwick.
Dallas has cut James Neal and Mark Fistric.
Tomas Holmstrom is questionable for tomorrow's opener. He took a shot off the foot Sunday and can't walk in his skate. No word on if there is a break.
Bryan Little's injury that I mentioned on the weekend is a hip pointer. He is questionable for Friday.
Jason Williams' injury is still undisclosed, but he will play on Friday.
The Blue Jackets received some good news – both Pascal Leclaire (ankle) and Derick Brassard (stiff neck) were back in practice yesterday.
Anaheim has sent Joakim Lindstrom to Iowa of the AHL and I believe he needs to clear waivers again. If he gets through, then obviously the Ducks had a gentleman's agreement in that Lindstrom had a shot to make the 'Hawks, but if he fell short the Ducks would get him back for their own farm system.
The Tennessean is speculating that Antti Pihlstrom will be sent down and that the Preds may make a waiver claim today.
Rostislav Olesz will probably be suspended for a couple of games for his hit on Chris Lee Monday. Stay tuned.
The Daily News is reporting that Dustin Brown will be named the Kings' captain today.
