Dobber Sports

2008-10-20

Fantasy Sports Business did a very nice profile on myself and the Dobber Sports venture . You can read it here.

Getzlaf, Perry, Selanne and Kunitz last night: no points and minus-9 combined. We're six games into the season and they still haven't shaken their funk.

Andrei Kostitsyn will be re-evaluated this week for a possible concussion, and will not play tonight for the Habs. The team is still calling the injury "undisclosed". Remember that "full disclosure" thing that Bettman said teams would be doing about injuries? Well, that never really happened, did it?

Jaroslav Halak will get the start tonight.

Peter Budaj will get the start in LA today. A loss could mean the loss of his starting job for the near future.

Cheechoo has six points in six games to kick off the campaign.

The Caps have sent prospect goalie Michal Neuvirth down to the ECHL. He has slipped behind Varlamov and Machesney on the depth chart.

Donald Brashear missed Saturday's game with a hand injury. That allowed Bourque to get into the lineup. Bourque was later sent back to Hershey.

Jamie Heward has been sent down to the minors by Tampa Bay.

Michael Leighton proved that he is a great dark horse goalie last night stopping 32 of 33 shots. All it will take is a little stumbling from Ward.

Kevin Bieksa was back in the lineup last night and played over 32 minutes.

Jere Lehtinen will not play tonight and has apparently taken a step back in his recovery from a groin injury. It looks like he will be at least another week yet.

The Tennessean has caught the Steve Sullivan piece that I dug up last week on a Timmins website and got Sully to give further comment on it. David Poile is encouraged by his increased workout regimen, but Sullivan clarified that he was talking about best-case scenarios.

Ryan Jones played much of Saturday's game with Legwand and Erat.

The Star-Tribune is reporting that Jacques Lemaire is very unhappy with the play of Sheppard, Pouliot and Gillies on Saturday. "They've got to do better!" snapped Lemaire, his voice rising, his face reddening. "Come on. We've got to see them. I've got nobody! I've got nobody to play, and I've got to sit them? They have to wake up. Come on!"

Manny Malhotra, Pascal Leclaire and Christian Backman are expected to practice today and be in the lineup tomorrow. That would mean Filatov will go back to Syracuse. By his third call up, I think he'll stick.

The Red Wings hope to have Zetterberg back in the lineup by the end of this week. He has missed two games with a groin injury.

Devils' Bobby Holik has a broken pinkie finger, but he may not miss any time.

Brian Rolston is looking at 2-4 weeks with his sprained ankle.

Lee Stempniak is hoping to be back for Wednesday's contest.
