The Tennessean is reporting that Sully has now been skating with teammates. His progress is encouraging - his goal has been to get back into practices by Christmas. If he plays games again, it will likely start to happen in January, but don't expect him to play more than 30 of the last 40 games [...]

Petri Kontiola is reportedly unhappy with his lack of NHL opportunity and would like the Blackhawks to do something about it. If nothing happens, I am afraid he will be off to the SEL, where several teams are rumored to be interested. Kontiola has over a point per game in the AHL and has little [...]

Week 3 saw a nice recovery from the disastrous second week.   I'm changing the format a little this week.  Due to the NHL's laughable injury disclosure policy, identifying who will be out due to an injury has become a crapshoot.  Therefore, I won't be including the "Key Injuries" subheading that I had in previous weeks.  You guys hang out at Dobberhockey.com so you know all the key injuries anyway.  Good luck to us this week.

December starts on Monday and in spite of the two day Christmas break the NHL only has one less game then there was in November and by the time the month is done we will be 45% of the way through the season.  Atlanta, L.A., Phoenix and St. Louis play almost every other day with 15 games in the month.  The Blackhawks and Rangers at the bottom of the list are only four games behind with 11.

Did you pay attention to all my John Curry talk over the last few months - particularly the last couple of days? Curry will get the start for the Pens tonight.  To play it safe, the Flyers will probably hold Briere out of tonight's game. He could play Saturday and avoid the back-to-back situation. Tomas Holmstrom [...]

The Boston Bruins are one of the hottest teams in the league right now. Are they for real? We’re a quarter of the way into the season, so you better believe it.  Heading into last night’s action, the Bruins were tied for second in points in the NHL and tied for first in the Eastern Conference with the New York Rangers who had played three more games. Before Boston’s loss to the Sabres last night, the Bruins were an impressive 9-0-1 in their previous ten games.

Jokinen's iron man streak will end at 397 games. Mueller's production should rise now, and obviously Turris will be used in more situations. I actually think this could spark the team  The Coyotes have announced that Olli Jokinen will be out 2-4 weeks with a shoulder injury.  Janne Pesonen has been recalled by the Pens. Look [...]

We’re now at the first quarter mark of the 2008-09 NHL season so it’s time to get out the first grades and who better to evaluate than yours truly to give you an idea if you’re in good hands when the Fantasy Frog gives you advice. That’s right, in this column I am evaluating myself by looking back at the advice I offered in this year’s Dobber Fantasy Guide where I listing 20 players whose stock I expected to drop this season and where the names you found were not the easy ‘anybody could have told you’ names you found in most other fantasy guides.
