Angus here with some afternoon updates.

Pavol Demitra has been skating on his own and is slated to resume practicing on Monday. Look for him to return against Colorado on Wednesday.

Ryane Clowe has been on fire lately and is being rewarded for it. He is due for a breakout season, and this could be it. Just needs to stay healthy…

The Avalanche are looking for a goalie (what a surprise) as they have been very underwhelmed by both Peter Budaj and Andrew Raycroft.

Mark Parrish made quite the splash in his Dallas debut last night. Three goals in just over 15 minutes of ice time. Parrish has established his range at 40-50 points, so don't go overspending on the wire for him. That being said, I took a look at his impact on the lineup. Loui Eriksson still saw 20 minutes of ice time, however ALL of his power-play time disappeared and he was pushed down to a line with Ott and Richards. Parrish played with Avery and Modano. Brunnstrom played on the big line with Ribeiro and Morrow and he didn't see any PP reduction. When Jere Lehtinen comes back (he did not return last night), it will be interesting to see who will be hit harder – Eriksson or Brunnstrom. So far it's looking like Eriksson. We should find out tonight.

Sidney Crosby left practice early as a result of that injury he sustained last week. Whatever the injury is, it's still "a little sore". As of this morning – his status for today's game is still unknown.

Dany Sabourin will get the start for the Penguins.

Evgeni Malkin has a nine-game point streak going.

Joe Sakic is questionable for today's contest. His back is still troubling him.

Paul Kariya's MRI did not reveal any serious damage. He could return as early as Wednesday, according to the Post-Dispatch.

Erik Ersberg will start for the third straight game today.

The party is over for Ryan Miller – he gave up five goals on 26 shots last night.

Jochen Hecht was back in the Buffalo lineup and played 14:08 with no PP time. His return took some ice from MacArthur, who saw just 10 minutes despite scoring. To make room for Lehtinen, the Sabres waived Matt Ellis.

The Thrashers have finally sent Brett Sterling to Chicago of the AHL. He needs top six minutes or there is really no point.

Brian Rolston has skated for three straight days and should return to practice any day now. Expect him back in the lineup late next week.

Both Frantisek Kaberle and Joni Pitkanen practiced with the Hurricanes yesterday. Both should be back in the lineup by early or mid next week.

Interesting: Olli Jokinen and Kristian Huselius each play their former team for the first time today.
