Wade Redden was a horrible minus-4 last night - just when you thought he was shaking his slump. It's rare that you see a player notch four points, yet still be a minus-2 like Nik Zherdev last night. Carey Price has the flu and Halak will get the start today. Marc Denis has been recalled to be [...]

A Roto-Look Ahead – Week 11

The next week or two is probably one of the last times to cash in on any schedule imbalance before it becomes statistically insignificant. By Christmas the Rangers will have played 37 games, the Hurricanes, Ducks, Coyotes, Capitals, and Canucks will have played 35. On the other end the Senators, Oilers and Devils will have only played 32 games and the Blackhawks bringing up the rear with only 31.  Those few games might just mean enough difference to turn what appears like an even deal into an advantage for you. On Christmas morning compare two 25 point players, one from the Ranger and one from the Blackhawk. They may look close but over the course of 82 games you are looking at a 55 point player versus a 66 point player.

Welcome once again to “An Expert’s Audit”. This audit will be posted here as well as on my fantasy hockey blog at Hockey Analysis . During the season I do weekly reviews of teams for people who email in to me for a look-see, they’re less indepth but just as much fun. Dobber audits will continue to appear here monthly and if you’re interested in having your keeper team “worked over” then you can begin by emailing Dobber about it BEFORE December 19th.

Kevin Porter has been sent down to San Antonio. Gilbert Brule has been returned to the AHL by the Oilers Not good news for Luongo owners, he is not making the trip to Edmonton and the Team 1040 is reporting he will still be out for a "lengthy period of time." Some quick afternoon notes - Chris Higgins [...]

My column is a couple of days late this week and it’ll be a short one since I just moved into a new house last week and there are a million things to get done. Despite my busy days, I found the time to pull off a huge deal in the Dobber Expert League. An 11-player trade that will have major repercussions on the outcome of the season. One of the most fun aspects of fantasy sports is the opportunity to act like a general manager and to some wheeling and dealing so it’s always a rush when you pull off a huge transaction. Here is the detailed analysis of the trade and how you can achieve such deals in your fantasy league.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll attempt to give you the Eastern Conference low-down on fantasy players broken down by position and team (similar to my Western counterpart's "Fantasy Indicators of Success" series). I’ll begin with the goaltenders because I believe, as in real life, that it’s very difficult to win your fantasy league without exceptional goaltending.

A huge trade just went down in the Dobber Expert's League. Check it out HERE.  After 870 career NHL games and over 40 career two-goal games, Petr Sykora FINALLY scores his first career hat-trick! In El-Bashir's blog , he reports that Sergei Fedorov and Mike Green will probably be in the lineup tomorrow, barring any setbacks. I'm [...]

Every December, the best young hockey players in the world gather to take part in one of the most prestigious and exciting hockey tournaments in the world (and my personal favourite) – the World Junior Hockey Championships. Legends are born, just ask “Double Dion” Phaneuf. Unheralded players steal the spotlight, like Swiss goaltender Reto Berra did a few years’ back. Looking back, there have been a lot big names as well as a lot of big busts. For the next few weeks leading up to the tournament, I will report on what has happened to many of the young players who have starred at this tournament over the years. This weeks’ article covers Sweden and Finland.

Teddy Purcell has (finally) been recalled from Manchester. Look for him to get a shot at a top-six role and some PP time. The good news about Sakic is, the extra rest should really help his back for the playoffs. The Caps have returned Sami Lepisto to the AHL and have recalled surging prospect Oskar Osala, who [...]
