Saturday, January 10 marks the half way point in the NHL season.  The optimists and pessimists can debate whether the season is half over or half remaining.  For your fantasy skaters some NHL truths remain the same.  The southeast is still the easiest place to get goals, thanks in large part to the Thrashers, while the northwest is toughest place to rack up the points.  While poolies have long since noticed that Boston and Chicago has improved defensively and Dallas' fall from grace it might have gone unnoticed the defensive step back that the NY Islanders, Blues and Anaheim have taken.  But fear not, the charts below are keeping up with these trends, recognising where the real strengths and weakness are for your fantasy skaters.

Dobber's 2009 Midseason Guide is ready for immediate download. BUY NOW. Small glitch fixed - instead of "upside" in the chart at the end, I had the player's current points. That is fixed now, feel free to re-upload it if you need that info.  Ales Hemsky is back doing off-ice workouts. He is doubtful for tonight, [...]

Correction on the below - Rick Nash is walking WITHOUT a limp. I read the quoted blog too quickly methinks. Thanks to Scribe for the correction in the best damn fantasy hockey forum out there.  Jordan Staal has signed a four-year, $16 million contract to stay in Pittsburgh. Staal owners rejoice! This should stop any [...]

Nope. I was wrong - the Leafs have sent down Nikolai Kulemin to make room for May-day.  As expected, the Blue Jackets have indeed recalled Nikita Filatov from Syracuse. He is the number one fantasy prospect on my list and if given any amount of ice time at all, he will produce.  The Leafs have [...]

Change is always constant in our everyday world. We change the way we talk, we change the way we walk, and we even change our daily rosters in our fantasy hockey squads. Some change is good, some is bad. We conclude this week with the final installation of this series. We’ll take a look at which teams are due for changes and which will be forced to make some. Buckle up and get ready for the ride.

Steve Sullivan will (probably) return to the Nashville lineup on SATURDAY. He has not played in over 22 months. Sweeping changes made by PIT coach Michel Therrien resulted in... one of their worst games of the season. Here are the failing moves that Therrien made: Goligoski was a healthy scratch. Gill was a healthy scratch. Miroslav [...]

When you think of rookie goalies with legitimate fantasy value, you instantly think of Steve Mason and Pekka Rinne. For those in a really deep league (or a keeper), feel free to toss Erik Ersberg, Justin Pogge and Jeff Deslauriers in the mix as well. But now there’s a second Kings rookie coming on strong in a hurry – Jonathan Quick. Has lightning seriously struck twice, or is this just another grave waiting to be dug in the Los Angeles goaltending cemetery?
