I love being able to just write my understanding of things … and those rare (yeah, right) times I am wrong, my man fzusher has my back. As he explains in the forum , Euro signings need to go through all 29 teams via waivers before the team that signs him gets him. So I stand corrected!

Alexander Semin has an undisclosed injury that the team is being very quiet about. He could be out for a while…but we won't know until he's out for a while and we're sitting there asking "Hey, where's Alexander Semin?" Love the new disclosure policy of the NHL…

If Jagr signs, he would have to sneak through 10 teams via waivers. I think he would, given the teams who get the option ahead of Edmonton.

Breaking News: According to the Edmonton Journal, the Oilers are close to signing Jaromir Jagr. With Visnovsky on long-term IR, the cap room is freed up for the move and the team's greatest need right now is scoring help for Hemsky. Jagr is playing in a financially troubled league so this rumor has legs.  Hemsky's value will certainly shoot up if this happens.

Blue Notes is reporting that Sean Avery will report to the Hartford Wolf Pack – the Rangers' affiliate.

Lubomir Visnovsky's shoulder will take him out of action for the rest of the season.

Mike Richards and Scott Upshall are expected to play tonight.

Steve Mason will not play tonight but he did practice yesterday and should return for Friday. Jakub Voracek is questionable.

Andy McDonald – should be in the STL lineup tonight.

Radek Dvorak (knee) is questionable for tonight.

Nashville prospect Cal O'Reilly had a five-point game in the AHL Sunday. He is ranked 87th on my prospects list.

The Coyotes have recalled Viktor Tikhonov, ranked 30th on my prospects list.

The Flyers have waived Lasse Kukkonen in an effort to sneak him through the Phantoms.
Danny Briere is targetting Feb. 25 for a return.

Chris Neil's calf was sliced by a skate on the weekend and is out indefinitely. Neil is a strong candidate to be traded before the deadline.

The Sharks have recalled Jamie McGinn, who has had some success in the NHL already this year. He is ranked 52 on my prospects list (which, by the way, will be updated later today).

The Kings will welcome Oscar Moller back to the lineup tonight.

CAR line combos with Jussi Jokinen in the lineup: Staal, with Ruutu and Samsonov; Cullen, with Williams and Whitney; Larose, with Jokinen and Eaves. I still think Jokinen will get 18-20 points in 29 games for Carolina. He tallied an assist in his 'Canes debut.

The newly formed second line in Vancouver (Mats Sundin centering Pavol Demitra and Ryan Kesler) is red hot, combining for 15 points in the past two games.
