The Rangers have picked up Mark Bell from re-entry waivers. Right now, his value would lie in penalty minutes. Seeing as they are already rotating Prucha, Dawes and Voros in and out of the lineup, unless something changes Bell will be a fourth man in that rotation.  A celebration of the greatest forum member in [...]

The NHL trade deadline is fast approaching, which means that your keeper league trade deadline is doing the same. It is around this time in the season that you must make the tough decision of deciding whether to go for it this year, or to sell off some assets and build for the future. If you are not in a position to win right now, moving proven, veteran talent for young, unproven talent is the way to go. Building at the deadline is extremely crucial to any future fantasy successes, and it helps to have information on some young players who may not be getting the acclaim and press that they deserve. These players are often referred to as “sleepers” or “darkhorses.” Whatever you want to call them, they often are the difference between winning and losing.

My week was already ruined when Nikolai Khabibulin went down with an injury, so Ryan Miller’s high ankle sprain was like sticking a rusty nail in a festering wound that probably wasn’t going to heal anyways. Boy, it sure is tough to find a goalie that can play so many games down the stretch and still produce dazzling consistent performances.

With Torts in NY, do you really see Sean Avery going there? Can Torts put up with Avery? I'm thinking... nope.  Don't forget to check out DobberBaseball for your summer fantasy fix. The guide is a steal at $3.99!  It looks as if John Tortorella will be the next head coach of the Rangers, per TSN. He [...]

In fantasy hockey, a player being moved to a new NHL team is often good news for the fantasy owner. A fresh start or a likely shot as a star’s linemate – or both – is just what the doctor ordered for a slumping player. In the Western Conference, as of Saturday, eight points separated fourth and fifth…yet only nine points separated fifth and 15th. Since it’s tough to nail down which teams will be buyers and which teams will be sellers in the West, we’ll take a look at the Eastern Conference first.

Nik Zherdev has just 10 points in his last 20 contests. Niklas Kronwall has 20 points in his last 20 games. That beats Lidstrom in that span (16 points) and Rafalski (19).  Snap up Patrick Lalime. Ryan Miller has a high-ankle sprain and I figure he will miss March. If you lose out on the race [...]

Goaltending Prospects – Building a Fantasy Future

It's extremely difficult to predict how fantasy goalie prospects will pan out. The "goalies
are different" philosophy applies to fantasy hockey as much as it does to the locker room. Their development is incredibly unpredictable. Goalies can hit their peak early (Cam Ward at 22), late (Tim Thomas at 30) or not at all (Hannu Toivonen).  Unfortunately in most fantasy pool formats, goalies are a crucial subcategory. The rest of your team can be great, but without a decent goalie or two, you simply won't win. If there is one position you should stockpile its good young goalies, because for every Carey Price there is a Dan Blackburn.
