Starting Wednesday February 11, the Ottawa Senators play five games in seven nights including two sets of back to back games.  All of these games are on the road.  Playing five games in a one week span doesn't happen very often - only twelve times during the regular season and this is the only time it happens to the Senators.

The Blues have waived Manny Legace, as a result of Mason's recent play. I know everyone is thinking "grab Mason", but I'm actually thinking - get ready to grab Legace. There are some desperate teams out there ready to give him 30 starts going forward.  The Post is reporting that Glen Sather will speak with [...]

Kozlov will miss tonight's game for WAS with his groin injury.  The Caps are going with Neuvirth as their backup because Varlamov and Johnson are both injured. Keep an eye on Eric Fehr. He is finally playing where he was destined to play (for a few years now it's been predicted by many fantasy owners) - [...]

Up With Downie?

 Mair Downie

Steve Downie - fantasy pariah or future fantasy savior? The Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary defines pariah as one that is despised or rejected. Steve Downie has been both early in his NHL career. Despised by many hockey fans as a no talent goon; rejected by the Flyers and traded to hockey’s sunny Siberia, Tampa Bay.

Mark Streit left last night's contest with an upper body injury. More will be known today, but he did not return.  An opportunity to join the DobberHockey team is outlined in the announcements section of the forum.  Viktor Kozlov tweaked his groin last night and left the game in the first.  Lubomir Visnovsky left last [...]

Changing of the Guard

If you have ever been to London, England, I’m pretty sure you would have attended the changing of the guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace. It’s actually quite a neat tradition to observe and seems fitting for the many changes that have come down this week in the Western Conference.

Nikita Filatov is now out of the CBJ lineup with the flu. Apparently his leg is better.  Steven Reinprecht will actually return this weekend, and not in eight weeks as originally diagnosed. His collarbone was sprained, not fractured. Joel Perrault played so well with Doan and Lindstrom that Gretzky will keep that line intact for now. [...]

 Mason

Steve Mason has seven shutouts on a team that has never made the playoffs before. He’s only 20 years old and although still a rookie, is probably never going back to the minors again. Sounds like another classic Cinderella goalie story…one that has to end sooner than later, right? Well it turns out that the clock may never strike midnight for Mason because he’s performing better as the season ticks down.

The Flyers have returned Luca Sbisa to junior. Had he played that 40th game, it would have kickstarted the eight years that the team would hold the rights to him, making him a UFA at age 25. The Rangers have recalled Artem Anisimov from the AHL. He practiced with Voros and Korpikoski. Anisimov is ranked 68th [...]

 stoll
