The NCAA championship brackets were determined over the weekend and with the tourney beginning this Friday in Bridgeport and Minneapolis, allow me to shed some light on the goalies being displayed in this year’s Frozen Four. There are a number of big-time goalies preparing for the battle that leads to Washington, D.C. and some of them have legitimate NHL prospect value.

One of the most confusing and frustrating NHL teams in the minds of fantasy owners is the Columbus Blue Jackets. Confusing, because they have a pile of talent in the system and you aren’t exactly certain how things will shake out for them. Frustrating because a defensive system, as well as historically questionable treatment of the young guns.

Not to say the treatment is right or wrong. But from a fantasy standpoint, it is frustrating and confusing.

Fantasy Hockey Ramble – March 22, 2009

I completely missed this unbelievable news this morning. I was so caught up in the ice time of Brad Richards and analyzing the line combos, that I did not know that he BROKE his OTHER wrist. Wow - he is definitely done for the season, and I would suspect the first round of the playoffs [...]

Vancouver signed college free agent forward Eric Walsky. The 24-year-old finished second on Colorado College scoring this season, one point behind Toronto prospect Chad Rau and 13 ahead of Chicago prospect Bill Sweatt. Using their standing as a base of comparison, Walsky would slide in around 200th on my prospects list.  With Boyd Gordon out [...]

thunder

So much for making up ground last week!  Despite my best efforts, and a few games not ending soon enough and one game in particular ending a couple minutes early, I find myself licking my paws going 6-7 last week, while Thunder victorious again picked eight winners, including her first tie of the year between the Caps and Canes.  Seriously, Maggie the monkey, you’d better watchout. Thunder’s .553 winning percentage would have her ranked seventh place in the Western Conference right now ahead of the Edmonton Oilers, and just behind Columbus.  My winning percentage, well, let’s not go there right now… light schedule for a Saturday night with only eight matchups so let’s get to it:
