Capitals Sign Brendan Morrison

Washington has signed Brendan Morrison to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million.
Fantasy Impact: The writing was on the wall for Michael Nylander anyway, but in case you were holding some kind of hope – let it go. Nicklas Backstrom will center the top line with Alex Ovechkin and Mike Knuble. The second line should have Morrison centering Alexander Semin and Tomas Fleischmann (or possibly Brooks Laich, if Fleischmann stumbles).
Having missed much of 2007-08 after undergoing wrist surgery, Morrison returned only to tear the ACL in his knee. That made his summer a write-off and he got off to a slow start last season. However, he seemed to find his groove in March, posting nine points in 10 contests to end the month. I think he’ll be back to his 55- or 60-point self next season, especially with Semin taking feeds from him.
