Dobber Sports

2009-09-03

Because of the huge demand, we have expanded this year’s Dobber’s Invitational to SEVEN leagues. Full information in the fantasy guide, which by the way – is updated now. Also info is in the forum in the announcements section.

The site will be down for about 10 minutes this evening for a routine cleanup. Security is fully operational now, so there is just a bit of cleanup that needs to be done. I don’t have an exact time, but I’m glad I am able to give you a heads up.

Eric Perrin has signed to play in the KHL next season.

The Coyotes have signed Taylor Pyatt to a one-year deal. Like they needed more “tweeners” (those are players who aren’t quite established as second liners but don’t really fit in as checkers). Now 28, Pyatt has passed the usual age where a power forward busts loose. The top nine is set, so his presence puts Prucha at risk of a healthy scratch, as well as Tikhonov. Kevin Porter wasn’t going to make the team anyway…but this settles it. Ditto for Stefan Meyer. Unfortunate.

Every two or three updates on the Fantasy Guide, I will update the player list. Since each update only involves five or 10 players changing in predicted points, it’s easier if I just wait until more changes are done to make the vlookups and re-sorting more worth my while. Just to give you an idea as to how frequently the player list will be updated.

Keeping Karlsson Short Shifts – Thanks for Vejmelkmories

Elizabeth and Lewis reunite to bring you all the latest fantasy news and strategy, such as how our siblings would fare if called on to fill our roles like Owen Sillinger did for bro Cole. Then it’s onto news including coverage of the postponed CGY/LAK game and defensive injuries piling up in MIN and putting some strain on Gustavsson’s performance. Injuries and outjuries include a pair of goalies returning to their teams in Ingram and Shesterkin, as well as how Monahan’s wrist injury opens the door for big minutes for Fantilli. Finally, the pair touch on Voronkov and PLD’s hot streaks, and discuss John Carlson’s rollercoaster in light of Chychrun’s production.

Keeping Karlsson: Tuch Hunch

On this edition of the Keeping Karlsson Fantasy Hockey Podcast mega-show, Elan and Brian tour every team, ranking a slate of the least bad goalies, noticing the wind in some Red Wings’ and Stars’ sails, dangling snoozer status above a pair of commonly rostered power-play quarterbacks, and rushing or strolling, accordingly, to some skaters on the up and up.
