Jason Blake is a classic case of “streaky”, and his three points last night indicate that he’s heating up. I think he makes a great pickup as a depth guy – and ride him for a few weeks.

When a player plays 40 games with Sidney Crosby and scores just his second goal in that span, he gets no love from me. My grandma could have tallied three assists last night on a line with Sid. That being said, she’s not on a line with Sid – Kunitz is. And as such he should be owned in all leagues.

Quick note – other than wireless, I am without Internet until Friday afternoon. And Angus, the bum, is on vacation. So ramblings are short today – and Friday’s may have a short one in the morning, and more details in the afternoon when the new office is all set up and rolling. And my email…. for some reason I can’t get at it. So everything’s coming up “fun” right now.

With Luongo missing a week or two, look for Cory Schneider to get some action – and some W’s. Raycroft may start at first, but Schneider is the superior goaltender and it will show – even in such a short window.

Tyler Kennedy was out with an undisclosed injury, so Chris Bourque got into the game last night and recorded his first point as a Penguin.

Marian Gaborik has a right leg injury, but coach John Tortorella won’t get into specifics. I’ll get into specifics for him and save the media a whole bunch of trouble asking the coach: It’s his GROIN. You know, that thing that always causes him to miss games every year? Yeah, that thing. His groin it’s his groin. Reports are leaking out that it’s his knee – no way. Unless I see a doctor’s report, those reports are smoke screen so that people like me won’t make fun of him. It’s. His. Groin. He wouldn’t be Chairman of the Groins in my Band-Aid Boys list otherwise. LOL – I don’t care if I witness him smacking his head on the post and leaving the game. I’ll still say groin.

Groin.

Doug Weight returned and picked up a point, playing 15:44 as the Isles notched their second win.

Jack Hillen grabbed two assists, giving him three points in five games for the Isles. One was on the power play. He could be on a little hot run here.

Interesting that Crosby’s first career NHL hat trick was on October 28 as well – back in 2006. He has three in his career and two of them are on Oct. 28. His third last night chased Jaroslav Halak and brought in Carey Price.

So the Habs are back with goaltender uncertainty and they face the mighty Blackhawks. As a Price owner, I’m hoping Halak gets the start. Another bad game from him and Price starts against the Leafs, who he played well against in the first game.
