May 31 – 2010 – Fantasy Prospects Report Out Tomorrow

Darren Dreger reports that Daniel Carcillo will be in the lineup tonight and that it looks like James van Riemsdyk is out.

The big news is that the Flyers will be going with Michael Leighton. I noticed some activity on Twitter yesterday wondering why the Flyers took so long to announce it. Frankly I was shocked that it was announced so early. Patience is not a strong suit in the media world. For the record, I like the decision to go with Leighton.

The Flames signed undrafted 20-year-old overage junior defenseman Chris Breen to a three-year entry-level contract. They love his stats. Not his poor offense (14 points in 65 games). Not his defense either – he was minus-21 for Peterborough and minus-8 for Erie last season, and minus-2 in the playoffs. No, the stat they like is 6-foot-7. Just rolling the dice and hoping in three years it pans out.

Ratings on NBC for Game 1 were the highest since 1999, when Dallas and Buffalo squared off.

Tomorrow afternoon the Fantasy Prospects Report is released. It’s the fourth edition. In mid-June it will be re-released with Matthew Bugg’s official mock draft. We are unable to do the mock for tomorrow because the Draft order is not yet set (Cup is not yet won). It’s GOLD, Jerry, GOLD! Every morning of June 1, I see many references of “it feels like Christmas morning when I was a kid” in the forum.

With hockey news slow right now, may as well pick up on my annual rant – it’s Stanley Cup Final! Not Finals! It’s one series, not several. The official NHL logo says “Final”.

San Jose signed their sixth rounder from 2008 Tommy Wingels. He is a defensive specialist who found some offensive pop in his junior year with Miami (CCHA). His offense has really come along and he is worth watching as a possible future depth guy.

McKeen’s will be putting my ad in their annual fantasy guide this year. Be forewarned – you can’t hide my site from your fellow poolies forever, I WILL get the word out. Anyway, I wanted put the word out that McKeen’s now has a Draft Guide. You can buy it here for $30 US or CDN, or $35 international. It is released today, and an online version will be ready for June 15. I have an ad in that magazine as well.

History will be made:
