Habs Sign Auld
Dobber Sports
2010-07-01
Fantasy Impact: Montreal has signed Alex Auld to a one-year deal worth $1 million.
Montreal gets: a veteran backup who represents zero threat to Carey Price in terms of his No.1 job. Auld is good in spurts, but had a very bad year last season and may not be the answer as even a backup anymore.
Fantasy Players impacted: Price’s value goes through the roof, unless the Habs sign another goalie (still may – Auld could be No.3). But his projected starts just went from 50 or 55 to 65 or more. I don’t look at Auld as a potential starter at all, barring a Price injury.
Fantasy Players this helps, in order:
1. Price
Fantasy Players this hurts, in order:
nobody
