Tim Kennedy

Fantasy Impact: The New York Rangers have signed free agent forward Tim Kennedy to a one-year, $550,000 contract.

The Rangers get: an unproven, but skilled winger who has the potential to be a solid second liner. He was just starting to show his upside with the Sabres of the course of the last 20 regular season and playoff games and was probably on the verge of a 45-point season had he remained there. Where he fits in on the Rangers is not as clear, but if Sean Avery and Ryan Callahan can lead a solid third-line energy unit, then there would be room in the top six.

Fantasy Players Impacted: Mats Zucarello-Aasen went from being a decent dark horse to probably not making the team. It’s also another body in the way of Erik Christensen. As far as Kennedy goes, there are probably 20 or 25 teams that could have given him a real shot on the second line. His value went sideways at best.
