Atlanta signs Fredrik Modin

Fantasy Impact: The Thrashers have signed Swedish winger Fredrik Modin to a one-year contract.
The Thrashers Get: a big winger with a heavy shot. Modin played very well for the Kings down the stretch and during the first round of the playoffs. He has lost a step or two with his speed, but he is a smart player and can fill a variety of roles on a team.
Fantasy Players Impacted: More competition for Andrew Ladd and Dustin Byfuglien. Both Ladd and Modin can play scoring roles or on a checking line. He upgrades Atlanta’s scoring depth, but takes away a potentially open spot in the top nine from a few of Atlanta’s top prospects.
New Atlanta lines:
Kane-Antropov-Bergfors
Ladd-Peverley-Little
Modin-Cormier-Byfuglien
Eager-Slater-Thorburn
Don’t forget that the Thrashers are toying with the idea of moving Byfuglien back to his natural position of defense (at even strength, at least).
Fantasy Players this helps, in order:
1. Fredrik Modin
2. Cormier
Fantasy Players this hurts, in order:
1. Angelo Esposito
2. Fredrik Petterson
3. Spencer Machacek
