The updated goalie rankings will be posted tomorrow.

Mike Knuble will miss a few games after taking a puck to the face. It doesn’t sound like the Capitals will call anyone up to replace him (cough*Perreault*cough).

Sad news with the passing of Pat Burns – definitely one of hockey’s most colorful characters over the past 20 years.

Bizarre ending in Calgary last night – Marty Turco essentially stopped trying at the end of the game. Three goals were scored in the final two minutes (including two by the Flames).

Iginla had three goals and looked great, as did many of Calgary's forwards.

David Moss, who had two points on the season heading in to the game last night, finished with a goal and two helpers.

The Manitoba Moose drew over 14,000 fans to their game last night (both Jordan Schroeder and Cody Hodgson were fantastic).

Not surprisingly, Duncan Keith looks very tired.

The Blues are 7-0-1 at home this season – gamblers take note.

Alex Pietrangelo played over six minutes on the power play last night, and he ended up with two helpers.

Colaicovo, who usually logs the most PP minutes, had a goal and an assist. However, he only played 2:10 with the man advantage.

Conklin got the start in place of the struggling Jaroslav Halak (haven't written that in a while).

Milan Michalek has three points in his past 10 games – are his days as a fantasy-relevant winger done?

Patrik Berglund is on a five-game point streak (seven points).

Brad Boyes is on a four-game point streak (six points).

Ondrej Pavelec has been playing fantastic for the Thrashers since returning from injury. If the Thrashers get any kind of goaltending they will be a team to watch in the East. They are big, skilled, and aggressive up front and on defense.

Burmistrov had a beautiful goal last night – I posted it at the bottom of today's ramblings.

Five of Evander Kane's eight goals have been scored against Washington (thanks to ESPN for this stat).

Holtby got the start, but he was pulled after allowing three goals on only five shots.

Marcus Johansson has one point in his past 10 games. Washington needs to add a legitimate second line center at some point this season (I hear they have a decent prospect down in Hershey…).

After a miserable start to the season, Nik Antropov has eight points in 10 games.

Justin Abdelkader has put together a nice little offensive stretch for the Wings. He is only playing between 11 and 13 minutes per game, but he has recorded seven points in Detroit's past 10 (including two straight multi-point games).

Cal Clutterbuck is the Cy Young favourite right now with seven goals and zero assists.

Thomas Vanek has nine points in six games. He is a hard player to get a read on – the talent to be an 80-point player is there, but the consistency from a game-to-game basis isn't.

The ramblings today seem to be all about the point streaks. Derek Roy has points in seven consecutive games – his days of being a second-half player appear to be over. If he can carry his hot start into the second half (when he usually turns it up)… a career season could definitely be in order.

The only thing separating Roy from 90 points is consistency. Sounds crazy, but the same statement could be made about almost any 60-70-point player.

Jussi Jokinen is 26 for 52 in the shootout for his career. 52 attempts – crazy!

Malkin played a lot with Crosby last night – the duo combined for eight points. Not a bad idea, Mr. Bylsma.

Crosby scored 51 goals last season and is on pace for more than that this season. I'm calling it now – 120 points and an Art Ross for Crosby. Imagine if he had some wingers (or played with Malkin on a consistent basis)?

The streaky Jussi Jokinen had four points last night – he now has 11 points in his past seven.

Ian White played over 27 minutes in his debut with Carolina, and he recorded an assist.

Mark Letestu has two assists in his past 10.

Michael Del Zotto needs to learn how to defend at the NHL level. He is a huge liability right now (minus-4 right now).

Kevin Shattenkirk has goals in consecutive games.

Both Radim Vrbata and Ray Whitney have turned around slow starts to the season.

Taylor Hall – two goals in 10 games.

Jordan Eberle – one goal in 10 games.

Magnus Paajarvi – no goals in 10 games.

If you live in the Lower Mainland, make sure you clear your schedule for the evening of Thursday, December 9th. Dobber is flying out from the Center of the Hockey Universe (close enough), and he will be joining me for beer, prizes, and hockey chat at the River Rock Casino and Resort in Richmond, BC (just over the bridge from Vancouver).

There will be some terrific prizes (a team-signed Canuck stick for one) as well at the event. Post in the comments or fire me an e-mail if you are thinking of attending!
