Happy New Years, everybody. Like the Winter Classic, Saturday’s ramblings will be delayed. Expect them up around noon EST. Stay safe!

Goldie Says: Happy 2011 everyone! Here’s my scouting report on Cedrick Desjardins’ NHL debut. He’s expected to start Saturday night against NYR as well. Terrific potential and upside as starter in this league.

Top 10 Fantasy Hockey Stories of 2010 – coming soon!

Maturity is a great thing in real life, but not always in fantasy hockey! From today’s paper:

Over the previous three campaigns, Burrows averaged 150 PIMs a year. This season, he has 12 — two fewer than Henrik Sedin …

Getzlaf will be out for at least two games (probably longer) with multiple sinus fractures. He took a Shane Doan slapper to the face. According to RotoWorld, Ryan will slide to center alongside Perry and Selanne (two natural right wingers).

Cory Schneider is starting for the Canucks tonight in Dallas. Roberto Luongo’s wife delivered their second child – he will play the role of back up for the evening.

The Winter Classic alumni skate is being streamed online. Check it out (thanks to Big Ev for posting).

Many in the Nashville organization are high on Linus Klasen, one of them being Barry Trotz. He still needs to adjust to the NHL game, but in the right situation, he could be a pretty productive forward at the NHL level.

Something that should surprise no one – Thomas Vanek is pointless in seven games. One of the strakiest players in the league. Without Derek Roy, I’d expect more struggles than successes the rest of the way.

Enstrom and Byfuglien combined for two goals, one assist, and 11 shots on goal for the Thrashers last night.

The Lightning started rookie Cedric Desjardins last night against Montreal.

Max Pacioretty scored last night – his first point in five games.

Stamkos played only 15:52 last night. He did, however, have two goals and two assists.

Marty Turco has made three straight starts for the Hawks…

Bolland, Sharp, and Kopecky picked up the slack with Toews out of the Chicago lineup. Kopecky and Bolland each had helpers, and Sharp scored a goal.

Michael Leighton made his season debut last night – he looked rusty.

Mike Richards had two goals, two helpers, and a well-earned unsportsmanlike conduct penalty (he was trash talking Jonathan Bernier after scoring his second goal).

I have a feeling James van Riemsdyk is going to explode offensively in a few years once his ice time bumps up.

Grabovski missed the game last night because his girlfriend was giving birth to their first child.

Found a youtube video of HBO's 24/7 coverage of the Winter Classic – check the full episodes out here.

Dobber with a beauty of a column over on Puck Daddy – the midseason fantasy hockey award winners.

Not only does Stamkos pull off a beauty of a spin-o-rama, he also roofs the puck:
