Kris Russell suffered a fractured ankle in last night’s game.

Mike Green could return to the Washington lineup tonight

Nashville prospect Taylor Beck has signed to play for Milwaukee of the AHL. Beck is ranked 93rd on my prospect rankings. Michael Latta has also signed. Latta is coming off a great season in which he tallied 89 points in the OHL (and 158 PIM).

Troy Brouwer missed throwing a check and injured his shoulder last night. He will be re-evaluated, but it does not look good as far as the first round is concerned (if the Hawks get there.

My column yesterday at The Hockey News

Kopitar over Datsyuk? Really? #insanepollresult. Sorry everyone, I know I have them ranked close in my rankings, but that is due to the games Datsyuk has missed. I also know that I have their upside pretty close as well. But always take proven over potential and Datsyuk has stopped 90 points a couple of times and has come close a couple of others. Money.

The Kostitsyn brothers combined for five points last night.

In my one keeper where I've had just horrible luck over the past three weeks, I can't remember the last time I looked at a box score and said "hey, I had a good game there". But I finally got it in the Montreal-Chicago game. Crawford, Price and Andrei Kostitsyn (couldn't get rid of him in that pool, unfortunately). Crawford and Price stopped 75 of 78 shots, and of the three that did go in, AK got two assists. Thank you. I'm still toast for the playoffs, but it's nice to know I have players still breathing.

Price made 20 saves in the third period alone.

With three points last night, Sergei Kostitsyn is now at 14 in his last 10 and has 49 on the season. In terms of pure offensive talent, there is no player on his team with more upside. No, I don't consider Alexander Radulov a part of this team. SK tops Erat and Hornqvist in terms of upside. I consider both SK and Wilson as players capable of producing in the low 70s – but the trick is, can they do it in Nashville?

Dustin Jeffrey had surgery on his ACL and the rehab will be six months. That puts him at October – the start of next season. Hopefully he can trim that to five and a half months and get in a training camp. What terrible luck for Pittsburgh's top prospect. Here's hoping that he maintains his status.

Not the NHL debut that kids dream of having – Andrey Zubarev, defenseman for the Thrashers who came in for Tobias Enstrom, was pointless and minus-3 last night. Prospect Ben Maxwell was also minus-3.

How about Blake Wheeler? Nine shots, two goals and was still plus-2 despite a 6-3 loss. Fifteen points in 20 games as a Thrasher.

On the other side of the coin, Shea Weber and Ryan Suter were each minus-2 and pointless in a 6-3 victory.

Craig Anderson is 10-5-1, 0.940 and 2.06 in Ottawa. At what point has he played enough games to get taken seriously for next year by keeper leaguers? I say this as an owner – still not getting any interest. But at least I'm not getting laughed at anymore. Now they'll at least raise an eyebrow when I say the name.

Five of Filip Kuba's 15 points have come in his last 15 games. Of course, with Ottawa playing just one game this weekend, there is no point in grabbing him. Carry on.

Jason Spezza with another four points. Since Christmas he has 36 points in 29 games.

Kevin Shattenkirk has 10 points in eight games. Overall, he has 16 in 24 for the Blues. Not in any Calder conversations, but his plus/minus is up to minus-3 (plus-8 in St. Louis) and he has 42 points.

It's funny how Vanek didn't turn his season around until Derek Roy went down. Should the Sabres keep them separate next year? I say yes.

Jordan Staal has 30 points in his last 36 games.

Ryan Callahan is out with a broken ankle. He won't be back until the third round at best, I'd say. And the Rangers don't have a reasonable chance of getting to that round, especially with Gaborik playing like an average Joe.

Zach Parise has some soreness in his knee after playing the last game. That's only to be expected and I suspect that his missing last night's game was a one-off. But I don't know for sure.

Alex Semin is apparently resting nagging injuries, but won't get in more than one more regular season game.

The Flyers have placed Michael Leighton on re-entry waivers as they try to sneak him back up to the AHL. If I'm a competitor like, say, the Penguins, I pick him up just to be a dick.

Here are some interesting numbers, breaking down Sam Gagner's progress offensively so far versus other players in similar situations.

I remember watching this game (owning Brad May, too haha) and I have this audio clip on my computer. Love this call:
