Let’s face it – you didn’t know if the NHL would announce zero games for Kunitz and zero for Downie. You didn’t know if the NHL would announce 10 games for Kunitz, 10 games for Downie. You didn’t know if the NHL would say 10 games for one guy, zero for the other. You had no idea – and you never will, when it comes to these things. That’s how crazy random this league seems to be with this stuff. Zero games, one game, two games, 10 games. Spin the wheel! Let me put it this way – if you or I had to guess on suspensions for each incident all year – say 50 of them – we would each be correct about five times. And all five would be luck.

Dave Bolland is apparently good to go for Game 4.

The Rangers have returned Mats Zuccarello to Hartford of the AHL.

The Bruins signed feisty prospect Tyler Randall to an ELC. A potential scrappy fourth liner whom they drafted 179th overall in 2009.

The Kings signed Tyler Toffoli and Jordan Weal to contracts. Toffoli is ranked 22nd on my prospects list, and was the recent topic of Jeff Renaud’s Prospect Prescription. Weal is 315.

The Panthers signed promising young defenseman Alex Petrovic, who was the 36th overall pick last summer. He’s still several years away, but his upside is quite high offensively.

Ryan Malone left last night’s contest with an UBI.

So far in the postseason, Tyler Myers is pointless, minus-3 and has at least a minor in every game. That sounds to me like he’s been a liability so far.

MA Gragnani, who is one of the topics in my THN column today and who I noted yesterday as a guy to keep an eye on, picked up two more points yesterday. He has four now and is a plus-1. He has yet to put his team a man down.

I’m not saying Myers needs to be scratched – but sit him down and have a long, passionate discussion. Put him on the right path and see how he responds.

Nik Zherdev finally draws in and he scores a goal. He saw just eight minutes of ice time, but if his presence opens up more ice for the top line (Jeff Carter finally picked up his first two points), then the Flyers should consider keeping him in – and leave Nodl out.

The Sabres outshot the Flyers, but the Flyers finally got some stability in net. Boucher stopped 35 of 37

The Devils have signed undrafted goaltender Keith Kinkaid from Union College. The 21-year old was 25-10-3, 1.99 and 0.920 last year. This is a significant signing because Martin Brodeur is winding down and there is currently no sure-fire replacement for him. Most college goaltenders remain in the AHL, so don't pin your hopes on anything happening here, but like I said – the situation is ideal in New Jersey.

The Oilers have signed forward Curtis Hamilton to a three-year contract. Hamilton is ranked 171 on my prospects list. He plays a power game, so that likely means that the numbers won't come for a little while.

More Avery brilliance. I love this guy:

Kunitz elbows Gagne to the head. Completely unnecessary. He got two minutes:

Downie hhhhhhammers Lovejoy. Wow! No penalty. Which was worse? Either suspendable?
