Ottawa acquires Ben Bishop

Fantasy Impact: The Ottawa Senators have acquired goaltender Ben Bishop from the St. Louis Blues for a 2012 second-round draft pick.
The Sens get: some security. The fluke Craig Anderson hand injury was a real wakeup call. That wakeup call being – they can’t lean on a goalie for 75 games and go deep into the playoffs without at least some reliable security in the position if injury strikes.
The Blues get: a good pick. Even though they gave up a great goaltending prospect, the emergence of Brian Elliott has made Bishop a wasted asset had they kept him.
Fantasy Players Impacted: Bishop went from zero value to great short-term value. Anderson is out anywhere from three to 15 games, and Bishop will start most of those.
Anderson’s contract will prevent a usurption of his starting duties next year, but if Bishop pulls a Brian Elliott then there is a chance that Anderson’s games played will take a hit (much like Jaroslav Halak’s).
Robin Lehner, in line for a backup job in a year or two, and the starting job in two/three years, just got delayed. Add at least a year to each of the above figures. But he’s a quality prospect, so he’ll still make it eventually.
Fantasy Players this helps, in order:
1. Bishop
Fantasy Players this hurts, in order:
1. Alex Auld
2. Lehner
